Fable II, Fallout 3, and Batman: Arkham Asylum – Oh My!

Lots of big news on the DLC front this week. Well, if you are on the 360 and PC, it’s pretty big news, that is. Unfortunately, as mentioned when Fallout 3 was announced originally, it’s DLC will not be seeing release on the PS3. However, PC and 360 fans will be seeing new content for the already large world of Fallout 3. In addition, PC gamers will also be getting an official game editing kit for download. The first of the DLC for the game hits in Janurary, followed by more in February and March. The kit will be released next month. Keep reading for more details on the Fallout 3 content, the Fable II DLC, and the new Batman: Arkham Asylum trailer!

New Xbox Experience Impressions

Yours truly signed up for a special chance to get an invite to the upcoming New Xbox Experience (From here out to be referred to as the “NXE”) a few weeks back. There were 3 random drawings chosen from the people that signed up in the ~12 hours that signups were available. I finally got in on wave 3 this week. If you read my E3 impressions or follow the 360, chances are you already know what the NXE is. But for those of you that don’t, it’s basically a complete design overhaul for the Xbox 360 dashboard.

Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten anyone at Microsoft to care that we have nearly a thousand listeners, and over ten-thousand unique visitors a month at Geekshow.us. So, I didn’t get an early invite as a member of the press. As such, this was my chance to get in and take a peak around. This comes 5 days before the actual rollout occurs. So when you wake up on the 19th of November, chances are you will have a dashboard update waiting for you. Go ahead and install that, and then walk through the process of creating an avatar to represent yourself. No really, do it. I’m tired of looking at a friends list void of Avatars.

Anyway, besides the addition of Avatars (Mine can be seen there on the left), the NXE offers several other changes to your dashboard usage experience. I’ve tried to run through as many of them as I could today. I’ve probably missed a few. But I wanted to give you guys my impressions, and give you a chance to ask any questions. Keep reading to see what I think about the NXE. If you have questions, be sure to post them in the comments section.

New Xbox Experience Embargo is Gone

The New Xbox Experience will be loading onto the consoles of 360 users everywhere come November 19th. I’ve been following it pretty closely, soaking all the information I could get. However, some things have managed to remain a mystery to me up until this point. Now that the review embargo has passed for the NXE, sites are beginning to put up reviews and hands-on reports left and right. None are better than the 9 (!) videos that Joystiq recently put up, in my opinion. Check them out after the break:

This Week in Video Games

The fall onslaught of games continues this week. If you are a video game fan, this is the time of the year you look forward to. This week’s big game (Other than the delayed LittleBigPlanet which was supposed to drop last week instead) is Fallout 3. It’s supposed to be one of those multi-platform gems that really takes the whole gaming community by storm. Bethesda, creators of The Elder Scrolls (Morrowind and Oblivion) series took control of the franchise, and tries their hand at re-creating the post-apocalyptic sci-fi setting. Reviews are looking promising, if this type of open world setting is up your alley.

Next week sees the release of Gears of War 2, Resistance 2, Quantum of Solace, and Tom Clancy’s End War. Hope you have you wallet’s primed for use. Keep reading:
