Maybe you’ve never heard of Alice Sebold’s best-selling novel, The Lovely Bones. Maybe you have heard of it, but the paperback is still sitting in your “to read” pile. Maybe you’ve read the book so many times you could recite it in your sleep. Regardless of where you sit in relation to the source material, the trailer for Peter Jackson’s film adaptation of the story looks absolutely amazing.

The Lovely Bones tells the story of a young girl who gets murdered and then looks on from heaven as her family tries to deal with the loss. The movie features a pretty impressive cast, including Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon, and Stanley Tucci.

Note: If Apple had an embeddable version of the trailer, I would include it here. The internet being what it is, the word “exclusive” doesn’t seem to mean what it used to. I have seen that this trailer does exist in embeddable form at other sites, including TrailerAddict. For a bit of internet irony, you can go watch this trailer at sites other than Apple and still hear Peter Jackson expressly state that the trailer is an Apple.com exclusive. I chose to do the “right” thing and link directly to Apple’s page.

2009: What I’m looking forward to

With 2008 nothing but a fond memory (hopefully) its time to begin looking forward to the year ahead; 2009. Here’s a list (divided into helpful sections) of the things that I’m just dying to see/hear/play in the new year

Music- As lame as this is going to sound, the album that looking forward to the most is the new Green Day record. When American Idiot came out in 2004, it was the coolest thing I had ever heard and it rocked my eighth grade world. Will they’re new record be just as fantastic five years later? Also, I’m really excited about Lily Allen’s sophomore record It’s Not You, It’s Me; the new disc from Panic at the Disco (I hated their first album but loved Pretty. Odd.) The Decemberists’ The Hazards of Love and a rumored Yeah Yeah Yeahs record.

Film- Look, we all know about star Trek, Harry Potter, Wolverine and Watchmen. But I’m also dying to see I Love You, Man, James Cameron’s Avatar, the Johnny Depp/Christian Bale crime epic Public Enemies, the looong awaited Where the Wild Things Are and Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones.

Television- Lost. Lost. Lost. Oh, and I’m seriously considering getting Cinemax just so I can watch the Diablo Cody/Steven Spielberg love-child, The United Sates of Tara
