Are you sure you want to watch Trek?

Star Trek comes out this Thursday night at 7pm at a theater near you. In fact, I’ve already reserved my tickets to the first digital show time. But, before you go throwing your money away, I thought I’d give you a glimpse at the backlash the film is getting. I was thinking the buzz was mostly positive, until I saw this.

Quest for the Ultimate PADD

I’ve been a fan of portable electronic organizers since my first one in the 1980s. I’d like to share my thoughts on the evolution of these devices through a historically review of the ones I’ve owned while on my quest for the ultimate PADD.

Majel Barrett-Roddenberry Passes Away

Another big name in geekdom passed away on December 18th, 2008. Majel Barrett-Roddenberry was most best known, perhaps, as the voice of the computer on every Star Trek series to date. She also played as Deana Troi’s mother, Lwaxana Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation. She was also well known for being Gene Roddenberry’s widow. Majel has just finished recording her lines as the computer in JJ Abram’s version of Star Trek. A sad day for anyone that’s ever watched a Star Trek series, as she had such an often over-looked buy no less important role in the shows.

She died peacefully during her sleep at the age of 76 due to leukemia. May she rest in Peace.
