From AICN:

“Development was really starting to heat up, And it appears like I may be writing multiple pilots for NBC so that wasn’t leaving a ton of room for ‘Heroes,’ unfortunately,” the star writer-producer tells AICN exclusively. “We crafted some really great arcs for the season that I’m excited to see come to fruition. I love that cast dearly and am sad to go, but the plate — she was over-flowing.”

Fuller, of course, is the “Dead Like Me”/”Wonderfalls”/”Pushing Daisies” creator who wrote the best “Heroes” episodes, including “Company Man” and “Cold Snap.” He left “Heroes” near the end of its first season to create “Daisies,” then returned to “Heroes” near the end of last season.

Fuller is under contract with “Heroes” producer NBC Universal for another year and a half, and has been preparing new series pitches for the media giant since he left Warner Bros.’ “Daisies.” He’s also expressed an ambition to eventually create, or help create, a new Paramount TV series set in J.J. Abrams’ new “Star Trek” universe.

Looks like it’s not the end of the world for Jericho afterall…

It all started with that Big Damn Movie…

After the critically acclaimed, but ratingly ignored (is “ratingly” a word?) Firefly was prematurely ripped from the airwaves, it was given the chance to continue on the big screen in the form of the film Serenity in 2005. Ever since then, it seems that every killed-before-its-time TV series has been trying to get a movie off the ground. From Veronica Mars to Pushing Daisies, showrunners have had new hope that their canceled shows could be revived in 35mm form.

Now we can add another one to the list.

While promoting his new horror series Harper’s Island for CBS, Jericho executive producer Jon Turteltaub announced that the show must go on! His production company is currently in development of a big screen continuation of the show.

“We’re developing a feature for JERICHO,” says Turteltaub. “It would not require you to have seen the TV show, but it gets into life after an event like this on a national scale. It would be the bigger, full on American version of what’s going on beyond the town in Jericho.”

The series focused on the residents of the fictional town of Jericho in Kansas in the aftermath of nuclear attacks on 23 major cities in the U.S.

When asked if the cast would return, Turteltaub replied with an enthusiastic, “Oh yeah!”

The TV series starred Skeet Ulrich and Ashley Scott, and was lauded as one of the best television series of 2007, becoming un-canceled after irate fans planned a clever protest involving peanuts (something that is apparently meaningful to the series). Unfortunately, the victory was short-lived and the show was canceled after a short second season.

The show is already seeing a second life of sorts this season on The CW, where its being re-aired every Sunday night.

“It’s crazy,” says Turteltaub. “I think they’re airing it because it’s cheap and there’s still that feeling that it hasn’t really gotten all the attention it can. When I think about the fact, a repeat of JERICHO on CW actually has more viewers than an episode of MAD MEN, you realize the difference between cable and broadcast, you realize the difference between what the press is watching vs. what America is watching. And I bring up MAD MEN, because it’s a brilliant show. But it’s still fun to see the show won’t die.”

Pushing Daisies mastermind Bryan Fuller is about to sign a two-year deal with NBC Universal, and his first job will be working on the final three episodes of Heroes‘ current season.

Fuller wrote the best episodes of Heroes’ first, best season, including the Noah Bennet-centric “Company Man.” Fuller left Heroes late in its first season to create Daisies — and Heroes has been a confusing mess ever since, confounding fans and critics and currently garnering about half as many viewers as it did during Fuller’s tenure on the show.

Despite Heroes’ substantial declines, there are still few shows as popular on NBC, whose current slate includes even lower-rated fare like My Own Worst Enemy, Knight Rider, Crusoe, Life, Lipstick Jungle, My Name Is Earl, Kath & Kim, and Law & Order.

As a result, the network seems likely to renew the sci-fi drama for a fourth season, with Fuller playing a more prominent role in the franchise’s creative direction.

Fuller’s signing with NBC Universal would surely signal the death of ratings-challenged Daisies. It’s hard to imagine ABC bringing back the black comedy for a third season without the man who provided its vision.

Before joining Heroes, Fuller created the acclaimed but short-lived comedy hourlongs Dead Like Me and Wonderfalls.

ABC has decided to spray weed killer on Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone, and Dirty Sexy Money, opting not to pick up the series for full-season orders.

Money and Eli are still in production (on their 12th and 13th episodes, respectively) and will finish shooting their current order, while Daisies finished production on its final episode last week.

Bryan Fuller, creator of Pushing Daisies, still seems hopeful about his series’ future.

“I can’t help but feel immense pride when it comes to ‘Pushing Daisies.’ I’m grateful TO everyone and FOR everyone who brought the show to life and for the very loyal audience that embraced us. If we are indeed dead on ABC, we now have to convince DC Comics to let us tell the rest of the season’s story lines out in comic book form and convince Warner Bros. features to let ‘Pushing Daisies’ live again as a movie.”

Looks like Fuller’s heading to Heroes afterall. Depending on which you prefer, this is either good news or bad.

When Heroes wrter/producers Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander, it was clear that showrunner Tim Kring was ready to make some changes. Fans everywhere seem to all agree that a return to the series’ first season level of quality is desperately needed. But for the first time, it almost looks possible.

Bryan Fuller is responsible for two of the best episodes of Season One, most notably “Company Man”, and may be exactly what Heroes needs to get back on track. Fuller has a nack for creating cult favorites, having done so with the Showtime series Dead Like Me (though he left due to disagreements with the show’s drection), Wonderfalls (one of Fox’s many series to be sent off to die far to early), and most recently ABC’s Pushing Daisies.

Now, while this could only mean good things for Heroes, it may spell certain doom for current series Pushing Daisies which has been struggling in the ratings department ever since returning this season post-writers strike. Is Fuller taking a position with Heroes because he knows that Daisies is nearing cancelation? Or is he hoping to balance his efforts as showrunner and writer/producer? I don’t have the answer, but I’m sure we’ll figure it out soon enough.
