An invitation to play Halo

We’ve discussed several times before on the site about getting together and playing some games online. So I’m throwing out an invitation to everyone that is interested. On Tuesday, I’ll be throwing a Halo Play Day. I’ve taken the day off in honor of Halo 3 ODST, and I plan on playing multiplayer for a good majority of the day. If you have Halo 3 or Halo ODST, add Saberj to your friend’s list. For more details, keep reading.

Geekshow Writers Wanted

Hey Geeks, Scott here with some site-related developments.

Things are changing here at Geekshow. It’s always been our focus to bring you the best in geek-related entertainment, and until recently we did that through our variety of podcasts. It wasn’t until the last six months or so that we started experimenting with the site by making it a major part of the experience with articles, reviews, and best of all you. The fans who check the site everyday to comment on everything. It’s been great.

But we think it can be better.

Our goal has always been to give us like-minded geeks a community we can turn to for discussing the latest in the entertainment industry, and with that in mind we want to give you guys even more. But we need your help.

We’re looking to expand the amount of articles posted on the site, but the only way that will be possible is with more writers. The four of us who run the site right now are spread as thin enough as it is, so adding more to our already crazy workload would be impossible. So, we are looking for writers.

Right now, we’re looking for 6 subject-specific writers, and a few general entertainment op-ed writers. Here’s the run down of what we’re looking for:

2 Gaming writers (all news and articles involving the three main consoles as well as the portable ones and PC gaming will be split between two writers. How it is split will be determined once we get them on board)

1 Comics writer (preferably unbiased when it comes to Marvel vs DC. Interest in indie books is a MUST)

1 General Tech writer (knowledgeable in all forms of gadgets and technology)

2 Entertainment News writers (must be on top of all the latest news and rumors in the entertainment industry to report on the site. How this will be split will be determined once we get them on board)

Finally a few general op-ed writers will also be needed. They can write about anything they want so long as it is related to geek culture somehow.

All writers will be required to post one article, review, or op-ed piece per week.

Now that you know what we need, here’s how you can audition:

Send an email to write @ geekshow.us. In the subject line say which writing position you are auditioning for. In the body of the email tell me why you would be a good fit for this particular writing position and then link to or attach some examples of your work.

There are some big changes coming to Geekshow in the weeks to come, and we can’t wait to share them with you. Stay tuned!

GeekiN Episode #80 – Television Report Card

GeekiN Episode #80 – Television Report Card

How would you rate the current state of the television industry? That’s the question we discussed in detail at the Television Report Card call-in show over on our GeekiNput page. We talk about all things TV. Well, not all things, actually. We left out those spoilery things, as it’s virtually impossible to have watched everything on TV currently.

GeekiN Episode #78 – GeekiNput: E3 Discussion

GeekiN Episode #78 – GeekiNput: E3 Discussion

Alright, I have to apologize up front. The evil podcast faeries came along and stole 2 hours of this episode from my computer. I went into the living room, and came back to an 11 minute episode. I don’t know what happened. One minute it was there, the next it was not.

So, what you are about to hear is the live version of the show. For the most part, it is decent quality. There are some sections where it has bad echos though. My apologies. Again, I have no idea what happened to the good version. If the echoing gets too bad, it fixes itself after a little bit. Hope you enjoy!

GeekiN Episode #77 – GeekiNput: Lost Yet?

GeekiN Episode #77 – GeekiNput: Lost Yet?

I must say, I’ve had a lot of enjoyable episodes of podcasts in the past 3 years. But this ranks right up there at the top. If you are a Lost fan, you won’t want to miss listening to this episode. Clocking in at just under 3 hours, we receive a lot of help this episode from our listeners in creating a fun and entertaining look at the series.

If you have not watched Lost all the way through, this is probably not the episode for you. We free ourselves to discuss spoilers until our hearts are content. And spoilers there are. A large number of characters are discussed in detail, including their motivations, their character arcs, their relationships, and even their deaths.

The end result is an episode that could’ve went on much longer. But the content and discussion we did get was fantastic. Thanks again to everyone that tuned in. If you still haven’t caught one of these shows, you are running out of opportunities. Next week is the E3/Video Game discussion, followed the next week by Comic Book Films. Join us!

*edit* New version of the episode is up, with hopefully improved audio levels.

Help Us Discuss Lost Tonight

Tonight begins a more focused discussion on the GeekiNput call-in show segment. We begin a spoiler filled discussion of seasons 1-4, as well as a look at what we’d like to see happen in the future.

Anyone that has seen the series is welcome to join in the calls, or just come for the chat room. In case you missed the action last week, it is a lot of fun. Anyone with a phone that can handle U.S. long distance, or a VOIP client with a microphone/headset can join us on the call. We will be asking you a couple questions concerning the show, but this week we want you to give us some comments and questions of your own, concerning the show. If absolutely can’t join the call, we encourage you to sit in the chat room, and discuss the show there. It’s a lot of fun to interact with the show live, and last week had a lot of people to chat with.

While we want to keep a majority of the focus on actual discussion of the series, we will still have a couple questions to present to our callers to get to know their Lost tastes.

1> Who is your favorite character?

2> Who is your least favorite character?

3> Jack and Kate? Kate and Sawyer? Or that love triangle can bit me? (Spoiler)

4> Most powerful/touching/frustrating death scene to you?

Hope to see you around tonight! 8pm EST, 5pm PST

GeekiN Episode #76 – GeekiNput: GeekiN Birthday Bash

GeekiN Episode #76 – GeekiNput: GeekiN Birthday Bash

Thanks to everyone that participated in the live call-in show last night. We had a solid turn out, which led to us having a lot of fun getting to talk with our listeners. It was definitely a lot different of a situation than it usually is. We followed a slightly shorter version of the regular show with the actual call-in portion. What it means is that you basically get two shows in one. The file that is attached has the show in it’s entirety, in a much better quality than the people that actually showed up got to hear (Because it’s a local version of our voices, rather than a VOIP version).

Those of you that showed up, be sure to follow the show so that you can remember to join us again in the future. Those of you missed out on this episode, be sure to join in next time! Remember, you can get the full schedule by visiting our TalkShoe page here: Http://geekinput.geekshow.us

Join us next week for a spoiler-filled discussion of Lost.

Join the Celebration! GeekiNput begins tonight!

Join the Celebration! GeekiNput begins tonight!

Tonight marks the very first call in episode for GeekiNtertainment. It’s our birthday, and we are relying on our fans to help us celebrate. While likely not as exciting as many of our other topics, we hope to have a good turnout tonight. After all, tonight is our opportunity to learn to use the software, iron out some kinks, and just go where the show takes us. The coming weeks will be a lot more focused and to the point than tonight’s broad scope.

If you can stop by tonight, the show starts at 8pm EST, with the pre-show chat beginning at 7:30pm EST. When the time rolls around join us over at Http://geekinput.geekshow.us and find the chat link. Remember, this works best if you register a username. It helps with chatting in a lot of ways that aren’t immediately clear. Just trust us.

In addition to fielding listener’s questions and general chit chat, we are going to ask each caller the following questions.

1> How long have you listened to the show? What made you start?

2> What shows on Geekshow.us do you listen to?

3> Do you have a favorite Intro? Got any bad ones that stick out?

4> What is your favorite show segment?

5> GeekiN or Not GeekiN? Hancock and Kitt Kittredge

Remember, we are relying on you guys to make this idea work. We need people that are willing to talk and willing to show up. Even if you don’t want to talk, show up to listen (Maybe you will change your mind!). If you are running late, show up when you get home, we might still be recording and you might be able to get in. And finally, just a clarification, all of these shows WILL be available through the regular show feed later. So those that don’t show up for these shows won’t be missing 6 weeks of shows.
