Y The Last Man Vol. 5In this final Deluxe Edition hardcover collecting Y #49-60, Yorick and Agent 355 prepare for their ultimate quest to reunite the last man with his lost love, while the person, people or thing behind the disaster that wiped out half of humanity is revealed. Then, Yorick Brown's long journey through an Earth populated only by women comes to its dramatic, unexpected conclusion.
The reason why we didn’t get the “bad-ass” version of Wolverine is because they “watered” it down for the kids to go see by making it PG-13. Now if they made it a rated R film we would get our anti-hero bad-ass Wolverine. Which annoys me about action films today. Why is it that when they come out with great animated action films and shows (Wonder Woman, Superman Doomsday, Wolverine vs. Hulk, Hulk vs. Thor, X-Men, X-men evolution, and Wolverine and the X-men) they make crappy live-action films (Superman Returns and DragonBall De-Evolution (hated that film with all my heart))?
And did anyone notice that they tried to do a mock version of Superman’s origin story by having the married farmers couple driving home and and seeing the naked hero? And during the time he was with them they kept mentioning their son which I thought was another mutant that left them because of his power.
1) Yuriko was played by Kelly Hu and not Michelle Yeoh or Ziyi Zhang
2) Runt, Hugh Jackman is not 5′2″
3) Lady Shiva (I think) is a DC character (most commonly associated with Batman).
I actually really enjoyed this movie. It may be just the after effects of the horribleness of X3, but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
If you stuck around for after the credits, you saw a scene where deadpool’s hand was reaching for his head and then the head looks at the camera and says “ssssshhhh”
You’re lucky you got to see the Deadpool easter egg. I’m just trying to drink until I remember.
There are actually two endings, not just the Deadpool ending. One of them involves Wolverine drinking at a bar.
Yeah…. but they are about as worthless as one another.
Special Wolverine Special, eh?
i giggled when i heard that too
Really didn’t like the film, I thought it was a wasted oppurtunity
Now that I’ve listened I can completely agree with you on all points (though I gave the movie a 2/10). Did you guys notice that this film offered us nothing we didn’t get in the first 3 films? It was all information we had before, terrible, terrible movie.
as for that Deadpool ending

I love how he just grew a new mouth……y’know, just for kicks
I’m pretty sure he didn’t “grow” a new mouth. It was just stitched up before.
I remember there being nothing, like skin has grown over it.
http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/1633/30483829.jpg
You remember incorrectly. There was definitely a mouth, it was just sewn shut. Easy to miss. But remember, he had become a Frakenstein, and the one thing that Stryker said kept him from being the perfect soldier was his mouth. You can’t remove someone’s mouth. But you sure can sew it shut.
Blurry images won’t really help much, but I can definitely see the mouth: http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/5288/vlcsnap434365.png
Anyway, here are a couple quotes about it to prove it. The first one pertains to the spinoff that they began work on:
“Ryan Reynolds is attached to reprise his role as the wise-cracking merc-for-hire, and while it is being said he will “regain” his ability to shoot his mouth off (in ‘Wolverine’ his lips were stitched shut) it is unclear whether the studio will go so far as to have Deadpool disfigured and/or masked as he is in the comics.”
“Having my mouth sewn shut was definitely a moment where you say, ‘Why am I method?’ but you go for it anyway. At lunch, snorting a steak was hard, but I got it down.”
“Uh oh. I guess those action figures weren’t incorrectly labeled and the purple pants-wearing mutant with the sewn-shut mouth is in fact, Deadpool.”
“Lasers? Adamantium Wrist-blades? Purple Pants instead of trademark costume? Next, they went on to ask Reynolds about the character’s mouth being sewn shut.”
If they make a Deadpool movie, I want it as far away from Fox as possible. I’m sorry, but after two Fantastic Fours, a Daredevil and two X Mens all spoiled, I think its time Fox step away from the superhero movie biz
Fox won’t be giving up their rights anytime soon. They are making big bucks off the franchise. PS – One X-men spoiled, not two.
I count Wolverine as an X Men movie, and that was defintely spoiled.
Well, in that case, The Justice League movies are having mixed results so far. Two fantastic ones with Batman, and one abysmal one with Superman.
Just because they think fans are idiots and name their movies under that assumption, doesn’t mean Wolverine (Or the Magneto movie) is an X-Men movie.
This counts as an X-Men movie because it not only has X-Men in the title, but also because its in Fox’s contract that they have to make an X-Men movie every so often or else the lose the rights. So they are considering this an X-Men movie.
Besides that, look how many X-Men were in it… Professor X, Cyclops, Gambit, Emma Frost, and I know there’s another one oh right Wolverine.
I actually don’t consider either the new Batman films a part of any sort of “Justice League” franchise. Those films exist in their own universe, much like the X-Men (Which includes Wolverine) or Spiderman films. I don’t think we’ll ever see Nolan’s Batman fighting alongside Superman or Green Lantern
They can count it as whatever they like. But that doesn’t make it an X-Men movie. Just like Iron Man isn’t an Avengers movie. X-Men is a group. Although there was a group in this movie, it wasn’t the X-Men. I’d be more likely to consider it an Alpha Flight movie than an X-Men movie.
I won’t let Fox tell me that a stand alone superhero is actually an X-Men movie. The name has no consequence on the content. If a Johnny Storm movie came out next year, I wouldn’t consider it a Fantastic Four movie either.
But anyway, I can see this debate is going nowhere fast. So we’ll agree to disagree here. Or disagree to agree. Or whatever you want. :P
haha, I had forgotten how much I missed the Randy Emoticon
Don’t get too worked up. I’m a married man, you know. :P
You guys have it so backwards, neither this OR the other movies where x-men movies….as far as I can tell they have ALL been wolverine movies.
Hacking away at the sarcasm you laced your post with, I find an empty, but equally ridiculous post. Don’t make me beat you :P
I wasnt being sarcastic, I dont think im wrong in saying that they have all cast wolverine far more in the limelight than any other character.
Beat away sir, but you cant take the sky from me……imean sarcasm away.
I agree actually with Prettz actually. Wolverine was defintely the star of all the X Men films
I wouldn’t disagree with “Wolverine was the star of the X-Men films”. But that wasn’t what was said.
I think the problem is that we differ in opinion, its of my opinion that all these movies have been wolverines movies. I believe this because not only is he far and again the star, but he’s the star by about 5 miles.
I suppose you could argue that xmen was rogue’s movie and X3 was Jean’s movie, but they both just stank of Wolverine to me.
I personally think they should of did what the cartoons did and just called them “wolverine and the xmen, W&X2 and W+X3″
Like I said, you can say Hugh Jackman/Wolverine was the main star all you want. That I’ll completely agree with you. But you are just twisting the cast how you want it in calling it a Wolverine movie.
An Avengers movie would not be a Captain America movie, no matter how big his role is, so long as you have different focuses. But anyway, this is a futile argument if ever there has been one. I have better things to do than that. Like…shooting myself in the foot, for instance. So, continue as you were. :P
This tickles me:

“X-Men Origins: Wolverine” finally answers the burning question, left hanging after all three previous “Wolverine” movies, of the origins of Logan, whose knuckles conceal long and wicked blades. He is about 175 years old, he apparently stopped changing when he reached Hugh Jackman’s age, and neither he, nor we, find out how he developed such an interesting mutation.”
Who the hell is this John guy? :-)
Can someone remind me what happened at the end? After the camera zooms up and the emergency services drive in and he runs off. There was something I swear, I just don’t remember what.
And any links to the ends other than Deadpool?
After he runs off the credits rolled and the audience as a whole wept for all that could have been.
yep this is Wolverine, it should have been bloody violenece and smart a$$ humour . Wolverine is nit a hero he is an outcast. Thtas waht makes him different from when he ws in the x men movies.
No one can bellow quite like Hugh Jackman! What dialogue!
I’m not a big fan of Xmen I only watch a few cartoons and never read the comicbooks But I did like this movie ,
It had some cool fights . But I can see how some harecore fans mite hate it , If It storyline is diffent then the comics and I agree with the Timeline not fiting too .
Well, they are indeed working on a Deadpool movie

In a video interview with IGN Reynolds “seemed” to be legitimatly enamoured of the character and knew a few things. Whether that means he’d smack a suit for saying there can be no mask or that Deadpool isn’t disfigured is anyone’s guess though.
Reynolds strikes me as a guy who wouldn’t have a problem not being pretty.
Also, idea, the mask could be Deadpool’s choice to wear, and the reason he didn’t have one in Wolverine is that he was a freaking robot.
I enjoyed Wolverine, at least it was better than X3. Not saying it was all that good, but at least it was better than X3.
Oh, Variety just confirmed that a Deadpool movie is officaly happening, starring Ryan Reynolds. personally, I think Guy Ritchie should direct…
I wish I had gotten to see the Deadpool ending, sounded like it would of been better than the one i got (though the drinking wolverine was a relief since I thought Stryker walking and being stopped was the “special” ending.)
omg thank you! that was the bit that i couldnt remember!!!
I have a feeling the Stryker ending will make more sesne once the sequel comes out
Wow guys- beat for beat my assessment of the movie.
The suckest part? The most interesting bits- the ones I WANTED to see- were done in a ten minute opening credit sequence. I also never got the understanding that the brothers ever liked each other in the first place. Urgh, annoying…
Well, my brain is now finely tuned to the warring sci-fi franchises in my head: bring on Trek and Terminator! They will cleanse this from my palette. :)
Loved Sabretooth.
Otherwise I was a little disappointed with the movie. Can’t say I hated it or loved it. My general assessment is that the movie falls into the “good” category, but definitely not by any means the “masterpiece” category.
Just saw it (also got the lame Japan bar ending), and I agree with pretty much everything you guys said. I did like that Ryan Reynolds’ sword vs bullets scene and Sabertooth and that’s about it (and the opening credits).
I did like Taylor Kitch as Gambit, save for the accent, and I know that’s important but I still liked what little we got from the movie.
I heard somewhere that the modern part of the film took place in 1979, but not sure how that is. I guess someone did the math or something.
I’m guessing that’s because the nuclear reactor scene was supposed to be the infamous “Three Mile Island” event, which occurred in 1979. It’s their, “Here’s what REALLY happened” scene.
I loved Taylor Kitch as Gambit. I didn’t care about the accent, but I think it could have been better. Mostly, my problem with him was that his CGI was horrendous, and that his powers were messed up.
@ I’m guessing that’s because the nuclear reactor scene was supposed to be the infamous “Three Mile Island” event, which occurred in 1979.
There secret base was in an operating nuclear power plant?! Surely, they set up base there after the incident. After it was abandoned and people were scared to go there. That would make more sense right?
Don’t ask me, ask the script writers. But that’s pretty obviously what they were going for, yes. It’s like Gambit said, “They are hiding right under our noses”. So yeah, I think the idea was that the plant was operational. Or at the very least, supposedly operational.
It’s possible that it happened AFTER the Three Mile Island accident. But a couple issues with that. The scene at the end with all the firetrucks and such were supposed to be the “results” of the “disaster”. So that makes most sense if it’s then explained away as a meltdown, rather than a mutant battle.
Secondly, if it is after the incident at Three Mile Island, then why set it in 1979? Why not 1985, which would have made sense continuity wise? It seems to me, and many other people writing thoughts on the situation that they were saying that it WAS the Three Mile Island Accident at the end. Definitely possible that it isn’t. But it seems they went to great lengths to make it seem like it was.

“Even the anticlimactic end fight sequence feels like it only takes place on Three Mile Island as if to say, “Tah-dah! This is how the Three Mile Island incident occurred!””
http://boards.theforce.net/your_jedi_council_community/b10008/30004303/p4
“As the movie pins the Three Mile Island incident on the battle at the end of the movie, the movie can take place at no point later than 1979. The fact that the movie is never able to firmly establish what era it takes place in is another major strike against it.”
http://www.moviemistakes.com/film7599
“The events at the end of this film are supposed to have happened at Three Mile Island, which occurred in 1979. Yet in X-Men, Professor X says it’s been “fifteen years since your memory loss”. X-Men takes place in the “near future” and was released in 2000.”

“The first movie ( X-men Origins: Wolverine) ends in 1979, the Three Mile Island incident occured then, which is what they where impling happened in the moive, no nuclear accident, it was Mutants! ”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Mile_Island
“In the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the island is the location of a secret holding facility for mutants undergoing experimentation, either in addition to or under the guise of a nuclear power plant (it is unclear in the film). During a climactic battle among Wolverine, Sabertooth, and Weapon XI, one of the cooling towers is destroyed. There is some discussion whether this was an allusion to the accident or not, but it is unclear in the film if the meltdown is a result of the battle.”
…So yeah, I definitely think that was the message they were trying to get across. Whether or not it’s logical doesn’t seem to matter. The movie has a lot of plot holes. Just check out the Moviemistakes.com link above for a list.
“Walk until your feet bleed, then walk some more.” THE ISLAND IS ONLY THREE MILES!!!!
It was connected to the mainland via a bridge. Even if it wasn’t, nobody said he had to walk straight. He could have walked around in circles.
FANTASTIC :!: One of the best pieces I’ve seen on the web in a long time. I bet :devjark: would love this!
