3 hrs, wow, can’t wait.
yay J-Bey
What is it about Jey Bey and super long episodes? haha
J-Bey isn’t short on opinions.
I like it.
I’m just sorry I didn’t get all hyped up about it sooner.
A four host show is awesome.
I hope J-bey co-hosts more often.
What’s up with you guys? first Randy loses most of episode 78, and now static takes over two of the TGMP podcasts…
Did you happen to piss off an angry gypsy or something?
@Inigo: you probably didn’t notice, but I also lost the last 20 minutes or so of episode #79. I had to replace just that section with the Talkshoe feed. So yeah, a bad week for good recordings. I really need to figure out what keeps causing the errors I keep having.
I don’t know what you guys thought of the reference to cat scratches; i’m not sure if that was a catwoman foreshadow or just their wording. AS for Two-Face being alive, i have no idea what to think, i was under the impression he was dead… kinda, because i don’t think they would have killed him off like that, but who knows. Anyways, I LOVED IT, i think i’m gonna go see it in Imax since you guys were talking about it so much. anyways loved the episode. thx
I completley agreed with eveything you all just said. I had an Empire Strikes Back feel leaving the cinema too and Heath Ledger as the Joker was absolutley fantastic as all my friends and people I work with know I’ve been waiting for this movie since the ending of the first one and the first Dark Night trailer was released. I loved everything about it and will definatley go and see it again in the cinema before it’s released on DVD. Heath Ledger IS the Joker and it’s a shame he’s not around to see his success of this movie and that he won’t be in the third movie, which I’m sure he would have been. Especially with The Jokers line about he and Batman being destined to do this forever.
I really like all of your ideas for a Batman 3. The Riddler would be a good villian especially with the ending of The Dark Night his character would make sense and would really like to see him in this type of Batman movie (compared to the corny, cheesey movies) Making the third movie about Batman becoming a legend sounds awesome and then bring the fouth movie (if there is one) forward a few years. Batman is doing everything right so far where as Spiderman took a wrong turn at some point. I don’t think Two Face is dead and if not then I’d be all for a Riddler/Two Face double villian movie. :D
Oh God… I am seriously hoping for a Riddler/Catwoman movie… And with the “love interest” dead I think it’d seriously be perfect. I’ll say it again… but I’d love a non t&a Catwoman. I just am not sure yet if the Nolan team can write women (as evidenced by the Rachel Dawes character) I just hope if they do her they won’t base their casting decision on who looks the hottest in the outfit.
I want Catwoman too, but am also afraid of how she would be written and portrayed. Is the stink of the Halle Berry Catwoman still there? :)
Ps
I noticed that cat scratch reference too. I even whispered to my brother about it.
@Pointy: What’s Nolan got to do to prove he can write the antagonists much better than ever before? :)
Also just to quickly add that the scene where The Joker is in the police station toying with the police man who is guarding him whilst Batman and Commisonar Gordon go after Harvey and Rachel. The scene where he asks if he wanted to know which one of his friends were cowards, the police man is ‘Daniel Hotlz’ from the tv series ‘Angel’ he is played by Keith…(can’t remember his last name) but anyway I just thought I’d mention it. :D
Hi fellow geeks
Great show. I felt your assessment of the film was mostly dead on. It is one of the best films of the year. With that, I thought you missed the point of curtain aspect of the movie.
1. The fake Batmen at the beginning of the movie clearly don’t work for Scarecrow because when tide up they ask batman “what gives you the right “. At that point they are clearly acknowledging that they think they are helping him out. But they don’t know what he is about, what with all the guns and … hockey pants.
2. Alfred wasn’t being a jerk with the “I told you so” bit. He is Bruce’s confidante, friend and surrogate father. Batman and Bruce benefit from his age, understanding and experience (as I understand it he was once a British intelligence officer). Alfred may have always understood that there were consequences to this thing batman without knowing it would come to this (the joker – the man “the moss” doesn’t fully understand).
3. The Wayne employee that was about to tell everyone who batman is, was only partially telling because of the possibility fame and mostly I think because of the Jokers threat to blow up the hospitals if Batman does not reveal himself.
4. I think that Rachel’s letter was necessary for act three of the film. It says that he will have to learn to trust people; that he will have to trust the city. To everyone’s surprise the cities humanity won out over its inhumanity. And when given absolute power Mr. Luscious Fox chose to he absolutely relinquished it. In the end, Alfred burns the letter to shield him. The letter it would shatter the illusion of her ultimately choosing him, in effect breaking his heart. People do it all the time…ah do these “Spock ears” make me look too nerdy…never mind.
5. Finally Heath Leger was really already an acknowledged great actor and star with is turns in Monsters ball, I’m Not There and his Oscar nominated role in Brokeback Mountain. He may or may not have been born to play this role but this role won’t make him into a star. That would be repetitive.
Thank for your time and thanks for the podcast

Detroit mi.
Macro- I agree completely on Heath. He was pretty big already. But I definitely think this would have allowed him to do whatever he wanted had he lived tor receive his kudos. If you remember right after Brokeback he did Cassanova. LOL, me and a friend of mine joked at the time that his agent probably begged him to do that, like, “please Heath, please do a movie where you do it with as many women as possible just sos they know you’re straight.” (Not that I condone that, but, let’s face it- it’s true) If he’d live he’d probably never have to do movies like that again. He also wanted to start directing and writing. Most like with this acclaim he would’ve gotten the money to do that.
It’s too bad. I’ve always thought he was great, in any genre he tried: network TV (Roar), teen comedy (10 Things), and drama (Brokeback, I’m Not There) Heck, Knight’s Tale even cracks me up. With Heath, it’s more the “what more could he have done?” aspect, because this was just the start.
I certainly hope he gets his Oscar.
