Then, Yorick Brown's long journey through an Earth populated only by women comes to its dramatic, unexpected conclusion.

I really liked the first two volumes of Young Avengers but I have’t caught up with any of the Civil War, Runaways or Secret Invasion stuff. I should though…
To be honest you really don’t need to, they weren’t that good.
I agree Ultimate X-Men and UFF has not been good for a while, but Jeph Loeb killed the Ultimate universe. His writing is not just bad; it’s atrocious. The dialogue in Ultimates 3 was like listening to 12 year old girls cat fight.
Issues of Ultimatum would be better used as Kleenex than reading material. (SPOILER:
Really? Blob eats Wasp? WTF?)
Maybe we were really spoiled with such good writing for a while in the universe (Millar, BKV, Bendis, Carey, etc.). But I never thought a writer could do so much damage (JMS aside).
Jeph, go write another Batman book. It’s what you’re good at… Sort of. Whatever.
\ rant off
Im one of the runaways apologists nowdays, just reading issue to issue waiting and hoping for it to get good again, and yes the new artstyle bugs the crap out of me….looks like a nicalodion cartoon from 5 years ago…..a bad nic cartoon at that.
…I actually dropped Runaways about 2 issues after the end of the Joss run. Everything about the new run was so atrocious I realized it was a chore to read and stopped buying it. If it gets any better I’ll pick it up in trade, but it honestly doesn’t feel like that’ll happen for awhile.
Although- small rant about Runaways- HOW COME THE JOSS ARC IS NOT AVAILABLE IN DIGEST BUT ONLY REGULAR TRADE??? Really annoying when I was trying to shortlist it at work (because I make sure Runaways is always in stock and hand sell it when possible) and explain to people when they ask about it. Damn you Diamond. Worst distributor ever. Sorry, I could rant about Diamond forever.
Nice Kevin Smith cameo though
It’s so weird- I consider myself more of a Marvel fan, but lately I’ve been buying more DC books than Marvel. I just can’t seem to get into the Dark Reign thing and am just waiting for Steve Rogers to come back. Although the Theater of War books that have been coming out have been pretty good.
Also- anyone else reading the new Noir books? Not bad- both the Spiderman and X-Men ones have been really interesting. I can’t wait for the Daredevil one.
Oh, and who else got saddled with a paltry 2nd printing on the Obama Spiderman issue? My friend was really mad because she doesn’t like variant books and is upset that all her other Spidey books are first printings except for that one.
I just read issue #1 of Dark Avengers and I enjoyed it quite a bit
