Awesome, I’v been looking foward to this episode :)
Ironic name title (Marvelous and DC). I like it.
They could have called it “Imagine the Marvelous Dark world of DC.”
Thats Image, Marvel, Darkhorse, and DC all rolled into one.
Adding some Image and Darkhorse would be easy. Just do some reviews of Invinvcible and Buffy and you’re set.
Everything you guys said in this episode reminded me why I don’t read comics. For a while, the only books I could read were the Ultimate books becuase they were simple yet awesome stories without decades of continutity to worry about, but now it looks like even that’s over. Although I will admit, I may continue reading Ultimate Spiderman if they use Girl Clone Peter, but just becuase I thought she was cool in the Clone Saga.
That being said, I do think 2009 will be the year where I kinda sorta attempt to get into single issues. I’l defintely be looking for Flash:Rebirth, Superman Secret Origins and Neil Gaiman’s Whatever Happened to the Caped Crudader.
I really agree with your opinion on DC’s marketing strategy. As a person trying to get into DC at the moment, it’s really friggin’ annoying when people tell you which arcs to read and you can’t find them in the store and they’re out of print. I’ve resorted to torrenting a lot of it simply because it’s not available any other way, but I would totes buy it if I could. I’ve managed to find some stuff through my library, but that’s tricky at best. (And really annoying when people rip pages out of them! Some jerk who took Sandman: Time of Your Life out before me decided to tear out all the pages of the covers… well, guess what jerk? There was STORY on the page behind it. Couldn’t you just photocopy it??? Ugh. Jerk.)
Hmmm… I really should start reading a lot of Flash stuff, because I’m super looking forword to rebirth.
And if Grant Morrison starts writing Green Lantern I think I’m gonna start to cry.
I’ll just throw in that Kevin Smiths Mysterio returned in Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
Huh. Well I guess I didn’t read that book, so that’s why I didn’t know. Was it any good?
Upon further research I realize that I actually DID read that storyline. It was two issues from pre-BND where Peter was a high school teacher. This was right after he revealed his identity in Civil War, so Mysterio took over his High School and turned it into this wacky haunted house thing just to mess with him.
I remember buying it BECAUSE it was the first appearance of Smith’s Mysterio, and was really disappointed because it was terrible. I really hope they do something else with him soon. Although, I wouldn’t be surprised if that storyline never happened now because of BND.
