Geekeasy Episode 1 – Ramble On My Wayward Son
Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008
In their premiere episode Nick welcomes the listeners and tells the origin story of Geekeasy. And after discussing a long weekend, Will and Nick talk about Nick ’s life without Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Will talks about his latest loved video game Mirror’s Edge and it’s influence from free running. Nick brings up Madagascar 2’s partly ripped off plot. Looney Tunes characters start a wikipedia race that really ends up with no winner. We do our mostly regular bit of Viral Video of the week, and we answer the question of what finds out when one host has to leave for a second…rambling. Also in this episode are brief discussions of Twilight, Lord of the Rings, Lost, and John McCain’s epic fail at politics.

Dang, I was hoping it would be “Rick-by-Night”
I haven’t had a chance to listen but I’m sure I’m going to enjoy it.
yikes, this sounds really rough. Sorry for the awkward editing. What happened was we were editing it in a style where its all my stuff and then Will’s stuff So it sounds a bit choppy but we do away with that in the later episodes, they sound a lot more natural.
Where is it on iTunes?
Go to the ITunes store and search for GeekEasy
Ah, sorry about that Mr. Pointy – I didn’t find the new episode on iTunes either.
well… that was different… very funny, and completely new… but the word that jumps to mind is… different
Of course during the great Looney Tunes google hunt I googled “looney tunes mice and men” and got the answer in less then 5 secs in my first search result. LOL
The one on iTunes right now is the old feed and not the new one. Look for that soon
The current feed is http://www.geekshow.us/?feed=rss2&cat=618 … drag the address to the itunes window and it should subscribe to that correctly. If you used the one I posted in the other post, that won’t work. I fixed it, but JUST did that.
It’s on the Geekshow iTunes feed now.
Sorry for the editing job people, my fault. This was a few weeks back when I was learning the ropes. After the next episode things will be much smoother.
@Jack: After this and episode two, we get a lot more structured. So don’t worry!
Like I said in the other thread. The first couple episodes are rarely a good indication of what the show is going to look like down the road. But I rather enjoyed the first try. Once everything gets worked out, it’ll get a lot smoother.
I thought it was really good. Good job guys, and . . .
Welcome to the Family . . .
I totally remember Babbages! It’s too bad they don’t exist anymore.
“…Tell Grimlock about petro-rabbits again.”
welcome to geekshow guys.
Great effort guys. I look forward to more of this.
Thanks Randy, that link worked. Subcribed
Will take a listen tonight.
I really enjoyed it guys. I actually liked the rough edges like having to leave to go put the laundry away and your sister coming into the room to harass you.
And I am SO gonna be doing wiki races with friends from now on. THAT needs to be a regular feature.
Also, you are SO right on Twilight being Invasion of the Body Snatchers. It feels like everyday a new friend falls into it. The other day my friend slumped over to my info desk at work the other day and was all “they make me feel tingly.” And I glared at her. I turned to her and said aghast “you’re always preaching Evelyn Waugh! You’re getting your doctorate in comparative literature! You MADE FUN OF ME when I was reading Zombie Blondes!” (not as great as the title suggests, little slow and no real climax) How does this happen???
But she just started getting defendy on me and I saddened. I don’t know if I can take another educated female friend sucked into this madness.
I think for a first show it was really good guy’s, well done. I’ll be honest and say at first I thought some of the dialog was scripted by the way it was said, but after relistening it was clearly just the editing. I cant wait to hear you guys when you have settled into it and the show is running on full steam.
Congrats to the start of a great show!
Enjoyed it a lot guys, and yeah, Wiki races should be a regular or semi-regular thing.
Can’t wait to hear it when the editing gets worked out.
Good job!
It’s currently being downloaded in itunes. I will give it a listen soon.
I’ve never listned to a more disjointed, random podcast ever…….but i want more. The wikipedia race would of used some dramatic music added and a timer though….maybe an explosion at the end too.
I thought it was very enjoyable, the editing/cuts was part of the charm. (I wonder what I missed???)
I don’t see it in the Canadian iTunes yet. :(
Are there no trekkers/trekkies out there?
ooook it was coming up Geekeasy >> Geekeasy instead of Geekshow >> Geekeasy, no wonder i counldnt find it :)
shall definitely be listening whiel im at work tomorrow!
Thanks for catching that, Munchykins. I’ve fixed that.
hay bit late commenting i know, but i would just like to say that for a first episode i think you guys did a good job. really enjoyed the show.
