I played the demo, and thought it looked bad, so I never ended up going back to it. If I could ever find a co-op partner for it, I would consider picking it up on the cheap.

Well, I've got Crackdown, and I wouldn't mind going into it again.  It's certainly not an A-list title, but I don't think it's named CRACKdown by accident.  Once I started playing it, I kept wanting to play more to upgrade my abilities so I could jump a little higher or set off bigger explosions.  Collecting all the hidden orbs in that game can certainly become addictive.

You can definitely find the game “on the cheap”.  I think Gamestop has it for around $10 now.

Also, I played through the demo of Plants vs Zombies. Might be something I want to pickup, since it has that Tower Defense feel to it. A question about Popcap games…will your purchase give you access to both the PC and Mac version or just one or the other? If it's just one, I'll probably grab it on PC or Steam specifically.

I'm having a crisis of video game faith. Only 7 lvls till my new main hits 80 in WoW but E3 is going on and I want to watch all the coverage. After hitting 80 I think I'll take a break and get back to the stack of 360 games I'm half-way done. It is sad that I havn't finished FEAR 2, Assassins Creed, or Overlord.

For whatever reason, E3 this year has put me in the mood to play FPS games.  So this weekend, I finally finished the single-player campaign of Battlefield Bad Company even though I've had the game for quite a while now.

Lucky for me, Best Buy decided that I needed yet another excuse to pick up CoD4, so they put it on sale for $30 this week.  I've only had time to play through the first couple single-player missions, but I'm definitely liking it so far.

As you could probably guess from my new review on the main page, I recently finished Prototype.  Yesterday, I went out and bought Red Faction Guerilla and The Conduit, so I'll be busy playing those for a while.

My Xbox 360 started crashing last saturday night. After I took it in to get through a long boring work night with Burnout Paradise and Geometry wars, it started crashing about 30 mins after we started playing. I was really hoping to get some play time in that night, but it wasn't in the cards.

I hesitated to take it back to get a replacement at Best Buy (Where I can exchange it for free) for two reasons. First, I wanted a Jasper board to help make sure it wouldn't happen again anytime soon. But they don't make Elite Jaspers yet, apparently (Besides the Red RE Elites, which even if I wanted, they didn't have). Secondly, when I bought my Elite to upgrade from my Pro, I had to transfer all my licenses using that tool. That was last September, so that means I have to wait 3 months to be able to transfer them again.

However, once I learned that the warranty would roll over to the new system as long as I had the system for less than a year, I decided I had better act now. So I picked up my new Elite yesterday afternoon.

So, what's being played currently? Kodu.

If you haven't heard of it yet, it's a game design tool where you can program games using a very simple language. No typing required, it uses pictures to program everything. I only got about an hour in with it, but I think it has a lot of potential. I'll be interested to see what all can be done with it.

At first glance, the “game” seems very limited. But with an imagination, it seems like you can do a lot of interesting things. For $5, it was worth the risk. It's in the Community Games section. There is a nice set of forums for working with the tools here: http://www.moco.net/kodu.html

So…..since my last post, I have finished both The Conduit and Red Faction. I kind of liked The Conduit, but it was severely flawed, as you probably read in my review a couple weeks ago.  Red Faction is all sorts of awesome.  I've started a review of it that I hope to finish soon.

Last weekend, I took advantage of a sale and bought Halo 3, Dead Space, and Mercenaries 2.  I've also gone back and played quite a bit of Civilization Revolution recently.

Now if anybody wants to play a game of Halo3, I can actually participate. :D

If you are ever around at 8am ET, look to see if I'm playing Halo 3. That's generally when I play online, for 2 hours at most. We play after work, so that's that's why we have the weird play time.

Does that include 8am on Saturdays or Sundays?  Those would probably be the only days I'd be playing at that time unless I had a day off from work.  I'll keep my eye out for you.

I've played about an hour of Dead Space so far, just long enough to start figuring out the control setup.  This was made slightly more difficult since I don't have the manual for the game, and it doesn't have a button layout in the game menu that I could find.

I have played several hours of Mercs 2, and I must say that I'm having more fun with it than I thought I would.  It was sort of the “free” game that I threw into the mix because I thought it would be a nice diversion, but I've played it the most out of the three games I bought.

Mercs 2 has a bunch of flaws, not the least of which is repetative voiceover.  If I have to hear “I shall call you Louisa.  Let's go kill a lot of people Louisa.” one more time, I might just have to go punch someone at Pandemic.  It was kind of funny the first time I picked up whatever rifle triggers the line, but when it says that every single time you pick up that type of weapon, it gets old REALLY quickly.

There is a lot of stuff to blow up, and tons of vehicles to get ahold of.  Unlike Red Faction, all destruction is made up of canned animations….or at the very least a canned number of parts, so the third billboard that you detonate with C4 will look pretty much the same as the first.  Speaking of billboards, why is it that I can ram a pickup truck full spead into one and the only result is that the pickup flips over backwards.  Perhaps Red Factions insane physics system has spoiled me…

Anyway, while it may not reach the highs of Red Faction, Mercs 2 is still a fun sandbox to play in, despite its flaws.

I just have to add that I have been playing a ton of Red Faction multiplayer the past couple weeks.  I have to say that it's a shame that a ton more people aren't playing this, because the multiplayer is every bit as good as Call of Duty or Halo, and perhaps even more fun.  The pure fact that you can destroy any structure adds an unpredictability to every match that isn't present in other games.  Putting you back to a wall doesn't necessarily mean you are safe, and it's awesome every time a smokestack falls down to become an impromptu bridge.  Apart from that though, the experience system is impllemented very well, providing incentive to keep playing, and with a couple exceptions, all the maps are very well-balanced and a ton of fun to play.  The backpack system also provides a lot of strategic options  It's a lot of fun to fly around with a jetpack…..or to shoot someone out of the air…..or to have two people meet in mid air, smacking each other with a sledgehammer. :D

If you're looking for something a little different to play, Red Faction is a great option that give you a fun single player campaign AND great multiplayer as well.  I would love to play with you guys sometime.
