Living in Kentucky, I'm primarily a college basketball fan. But the only other thing I really get into is college football. Professional sports can bite me, for the most part.

Tournament time is almost here. Six weeks until opening day, then there is the NFL Draft. Good times.

Living in Kentucky?  Try living in North Carolina.  College basketball is huge here.  We've got Blue Devils, Tarheels, Demon Deacons, and the Wolfpack….better known to the outside world as Duke, North Carolina, Wake Forest, and NC State.

If I really want to piss people off around here, I can just tell them that I'm rooting for Kansas (although the connection between Kansas and UNC might smooth things over for Tarheels fans).

This is my awesome signature…please don’t step on it.

We've usually got Kentucky, Louisville, and Indiana right in this area. Though this year Kentucky has been playing horribly, and Indiana is non-existant. I'm a Kentucky fan myself. So, it's a good thing you aren't a fan of Duke or UNC. I may not be on speaking terms with you. ;)

Butler is the only team in Indiana that is any good.

Since Ben isn't here to make the point, I'll make it for him.

You are wrong.

Indiana blows, Notre Dame has been going backwards, and Purdue lost to Northwestern last night. IUPUI and Valpo make the tourney occasionally, that leaves Butler.

Purdue lost to Northwestern, so obviously they suck. Never mind the fact that Butler plays in the Horizon league. Never mind that they lost to Loyola and Milwaukee. Loyola is RPI 215, Milwaukee is RPI 120. Northwestern is RPI 70.

I lose respect for teams that don't choose to move to a real league to play. Butler and Memphis need to step it up if they want some respect.

Purdue is 2nd in conference, I was joking a bit. A lack of respect for a team that made the final game last year.

I have to find a team to cheer on this year. Unless Kentucky figures out what the hell they are doing wrong soon, this will be the first time since I became a fan in 1992 that we haven't been to the NCAA tournament. Here's hoping for an automatic bid.

Billy Gillispie should turn that team around.

I'm waiting for it. Past the #1 and #2 players on the team, we don't have an abundance of talent. But our #1 and #2 happen to be two of the best at what they do. Whether it be points per game, free throw percentage, blocks, or field goal percentage. They are really talented. It doesn't take too much beyond that to play at a level where you can at least beat most “decent” teams.

And with a little motivation, it can go a lot further. I never give up on a season. I just hope my team doesn't either. :)

I'm sort of a Duke fan by default since my wife's family are mostly Duke fans.  You can tell I'm not originally from NC because I enjoy all the teams from NC.  Most people here root for one NC team and vehemently hate the other three schools.

But since I lived in Michigan until I was ten and then Missouri until I moved out here four years ago, I've got a wider variety of teams that I like.  I like Mizzou, the Fighting Illini, Kansas Jayhawks, Michigan & Michigan State, I've enjoyed watching Indiana and Kentucky in the past, and of course I must always root for the school that I went to (even though they rarely make the tournament), the Missouri State Bears.

I can't stomach Duke. Everyone around here has the least favorite rivals. Most of them count out Duke, because we rarely play them. After '92, I can't stand Duke at all. Laettner gets hailed a hero for the game, but never should have made it to that point. He totally should have been ejected.

But, I'll let your situation slip, since you obviously a confused individual with your teams. :)

I'm really not much of a spectator sports fan, but I do follow a few teams.  I was raised on the Green Bay Packers and my family has season tickets so I head to the tundra of Green Bay from California for 2-3 games per year and all playoff games.

My daughter is a recruited athlete going to U of California – Berkeley (”Cal”) in the fall so I now follow all Cal sports a bit.  In her sport they are the NCAA Div. 1 champions in 2 of the last 3 years, so we are obviously pretty fanatical fans.

And my alma mater is Marquette so I kinda follow them, especially in March (and when Dwayne Wade played for them).

But in general. I'd rather do a sport (or a geeky movie or TV show) than watch a sport.

See, I never really started watching Duke until I moved out here and got married.

Let's just say that the tournament last year made me very happy with how it turned out. :D

I-L-L…

Still being in college, I have to say that college football pisses me off since they do not have a playoff (BCS is just a huge money grab for universities). That and the NFL rule of having to be 3 years removed from high school graduation to enter the draft is borderline illegal. That being said, I love football too much to look away.

Coach K looks like a rat to me. Roy Williams can suck it. Bill Self(ish) can take his hairplugs and shove it. And someone please kill Dick Vitale. I have to mute the games he announces and I just want to hear what the beautiful Erin Andrews has to say about some guy's pulled groin. The tourney is the greatest sport event of the year.

Any hockey fans here? This year has been crazy.

Paintball anyone? And I am not taking woodsball. NXL and USPL… Yeah nevermind.

Bears. Bears. Bears.

And yes, I admit. I am a Cubs fan, but a pessimistic one. I have already accepted the fact that they won't win a world series in my lifetime. But I still love them.

Killing conversation, one thread at a time.

I'll agree on the lack of a playoffs. It's bullcrap. However, I completely disagree about the rule of playing for 3 years being borderline illegal. We need to stop treating athletes like Gods. If they were in the real world, then the situation would be no different. What if they were a crack Doctor or Lawyer. Would we let them practice without the training that we feel they need? What if they didn't really need it, because they were that good? And the case generally goes across the board with all professional fields. Most big jobs require at least a 2 year degree to get these days, whether or not you need it. Some even require 4 or 6 year degrees.

That's how it works here in the real world, and I don't see any reason why they should be excluded. The only thing bad about that is the fact that they are playing without being paid for that time. But then again, generally co-op positions in college are the same.

I am a casual fan of hockey, go Pens. As a White Sox fan I am glad they won their long-awaited championship before the Cubs.

The BCS is what it is. University presidents are not going to allow a playoff.
