The past few years have promoted David Tennant and Christopher Ecceleston into the lime light as THE actors to play Doctor Who. BUT, in my view Tom Baker IS Doctor Who! Don't get me wrong, I love what David Tennant has done with the role. But still, Tom Baker made the Doctor the icon he is today. 

So far we have had ten actors play the Doctor with one new one on the way.

What does everyone else think? Who is your favorite actor to play the Doctor ?

I never cared for doctor Who before the new series. Even going back and trying to watch old episodes kind of grates on me. So, I will say that for me, it's Tennant. But Eccleston actually comes in a close second. But that also may be because I really liked the first season in general. Except for the damned Slaveen.

I've always been a defendent of the tv movie. Yes, the chase scene is out of place. Yes, the kiss was weird, and yes the whole 'half human' thing was lame… but other than that I loved it. Eric Roberts was fantastic as an over-the-top Master and McGann was very charming and likeable as the Doctor. I even thought Grace made a fantastic “companion” of sorts.

For me my favorites are Tom Baker and Tennant. But I think that's because those are the two I've seen the most of.

Probably Tom Baker. His stuff was aired the most in the states prior to the new series. I remember PBS re-airing a lot of his serials when I was a kid and that's what my brother and I watched whenever it was on.

I always loved that Simpsons episode where they scream “Bring in the representitives of TV!” And in walks Krusty, Bumblebee Man, and Tom Baker as the Doctor. :P
