Now that Watchmen's been out for almost a whole weekend we can forget about it and move on to the next big thing we're all looking forward too. For me that's Scott Pilgrim vs. The Universe. I think this could be a comic book adapt I actually love for once.

I love the whole cast but inparticular Kieran Culken as Wallace Wells. I really think it could be a great opportunity for Cera to totally shatter the mould in which he's been typecast. The comic is like a wonderfull little surprise meant just for me. Like the time when I lost my favorite Transformers action figure and my mom found it and put it in my lunch box. “There's more than one kind of tea!?”

One concern I have is that I'm sure they will want the movie to take place over a more compact period of time. The book takes place at a key time period for Scott, it's about him being forced to grow up, kicking and screaming. And it's about how his relationship with Ramona makes it worth it (the heartbreaking ending to the latest book is great!). It's about a guy who's never had much expected of him finally caring about something enough to fight for it.

Increasingly the stuff about growing up edges out the (hillariously awesome) stuff about doing karate and magic as my favorite part of the story. I wonder if they'll be able to find room for it in the movie.
