Since the post on the main page is so old, I wanted to bring the discussion here. Since Charisma Carpenter will be showing up in season 2, I'm sure a lot of people that weren't interested before may take notice. Here is the comment I posted on the main site article concerning my experiences with the first season:

So, 7 months later, I actually started watching the show. It’s now available of Netflix instant streaming, so it was a great excuse to check it out.

So, my thoughts: I agree, a slow start. And even though I’ve never opened a page of the books, I knew that it wasn’t following them very closely. But, after a couple episodes, I was hooked. I finished the first season in roughly 2 days. Then, I was pleased to see that it actually got picked up for the second season.

My favorite character, for some reason, was Jennsen. So after finishing the first season, and only seeing her in two episodes, I really wanted to see if she would have a more active role in the second season. Turns out that she didn’t even come into the books until MUCH later and wasn’t even supposed to be in the first season of the show. So I’m pretty sure she won’t be a major character any time soon. A shame, since she is so charming. Just goes to prove how much they changed the show from the books.

However, looking into the season 2 stuff, I came across a wealth of information from ComicCon. Like the fact that Charisma Carpenter will be guest starring in season 2. In addition, I also found out that Aimee Teegarden (From Friday Night Lights. Love her. I cast her in my ASoIaF lineup.) will be guest staring in season 2 as well (in what seems like a really interesting role). So now I’m stoked about season 2 starting in November.

This is going to be one hella good season of TV. I don’t have the time for all these series at once anymore. This, Chuck, Heroes, Supernatural, V, Glee, the Lost finale, Flash Forward, etc. Gonna be packed tight this year. One thing I saw, but don’t know if it’s correct, is that Netflix picked up the rights to season 1 and 2 of Legend of the Seeker. So it’s possible that I’ll be able to stream the second season shortly after it airs ala Heroes, if that’s true.

Anyway, I’m very much pleased. Thanks for the review 7 months ago. After the show ends, I’m going to read the books. I don’t want to read them before hand, because I don’t want them to ruin my enjoyment of the show. :P

I am about halfway through the first season of Ledend of the Seeker right now.  The first few episodes were kind of fun, but nothing special.  However, the last several episodes have been really, really good.  I think my favorite episode so far was “The Puppeteer”.  It gave some more screentime to Zed and gave him something to do other than shooting fireballs or imparting “lessons”.

This is my awesome signature…please don’t step on it.

I started liking it at episode 4, but there were a couple afterwords that weren't very good. But by the time Puppeteer rolled around, they got pretty great, IMO.

So, I watched the first episode of Season 2 last night. My lovely wife picked me up an iTunes promo card from the theater. I put in the code, downloaded the episode, and enjoyed a very well done episode for an hour.

There were many reasons to like this episode. First, it had Charisma Carpenter in it. I wasn't expecting her to make an appearance so quickly. Second, I actually enjoyed Cara, the Mord-Sith from last season. She is going to be a good addition to the show. But more than anything, I think they did some interesting things with the story, and gave you a lot of information up front, rather than spoon feeding it to you over the course of a whole season.

Plus, they brought Rachel back for the episode. So that was cool. Anyone else get a chance to watch the episode? I'm sure you can find it in other places than iTunes, if that's your thing. Can't wait for episode 2 now.

I haven't seen season 2's premiere yet. I probably won't have time to watch it this weekend either. I think it's good you're not going to read the books right away, as the series is waaaaay off track. In a way it's ok becuase I don't know what's going to happen. I mean, some very important things were completely changed, so now it seems like anything can happen.

It just started last weekend, so you're not even a week behind. Cool

Wow, they REALLY go off from the book. It baffles me sometimes…

*Spoiler* for the book and the first ep of season 2

Lord Rahl was not Richards brother… He was his father, and if I remember correctly, he raped Richards mother and Zed knew. Rahl did not know Richard was his son until the end of the book.
