I hear that the Caprica pilot is floating around the internets. Anyone see it yet? I still need to watch the last season, so I'm holding off on…the official DVD release…but I'd like to know what others think of it without any spoilers. :)

I was going to watch it last night, but ended up not having enough time. I am not really sure what I think of the spin off. It will be so different from BSG. Not that that is a bad thing, but I'm not sure by watching the trailers if it would be something I'd watch if it wasn't attached to it.
I might watch it tonight since my husband doesn't watch LOST anymore and I am losing interest.

You chose now to lose interest? Immediately following one of the best episodes of the season? Please tell me you are behind in the show. Otherwise, I just won't know what to think :P

Yeah, I finally watched last weeks episode, but I haven't watched this weeks. I have watched the show every week since it aired, but this season is not doing it for me. I loved the first season and last season so I keep watching, hoping I'll get sucked back in. So far it's not doing that.

About Caprica. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I wasn't very excited about this spin off. I love BSG, but what I had heard of Caprica didn't interest me all that much. I'm glad I gave it a chance. It wasn't the best pilot, but it reminded me a little of the BSG miniseries. It had a couple twists, introduced us to the characters, and gave us a feel for what the show will be like.
Overall it was entertaining and I would like to see more. Although, it's not where I can't wait to see the next one. I don't feel that need to watch the following episode like I did most of the time with BSG. It's not really fair to compare the two, but I don't have anything else to compare it to. Even though Caprica is nothing like BSG some things were familiar. It has a darker tone (although not as dark as BSG), and some of the score had hints of some of the BSG score.
My husband really liked it. I think he was surprised as well. He is also a BSG fan, so it leaves me wondering how non-BSG fans will like it. I think most might enjoy it if they give it a chance. It obviously is sci-fi, but it's more of a character driven drama (which BSG was as well, but I think the ships turned some people off from watching). I guess maybe it's not as heavily sci-fi as BSG. It would be like comparing Back to the Future to Star Trek.

The question is, are there spoilers for those of us that haven't finished BSG? I'm a season away from finishing. Anyway, I'm really hoping we see more of the Centurions in this series, since they seemed to mostly be in the regular series to appease fans of the original series.

No, I wouldn't say there are spoilers for BSG, at least nothing I can think of. But there is something that links back to things we find out towards the end of BSG season4.5. It's very minor, but I find it interesting.

Pretty much everything i thought about saying Care brought up. I never heard anything about caprica and to be honest i wasn't interested in any back story so would of given it a miss. But had no shows to watch and decided to watch. The start made me not look forward to it but then bam it gets interesting. Slight darkness but nothing up to BSG standards and it just feel fresh.
I couldn't find anything in it myself that would be considered spoilers, i only half think i know what Care is talking about above :o

I felt that Caprica wasn't anything like Battlestar. But I think that I really liked it. However, I can't imagine them doing a direct continuation from the pilot ala the BSG miniseries. They may do it, but I just can't see that.
The only real darkness I saw came from the racial issues, which they only barely touched on in BSG. I gotta say, I pegged the BSG character about a mile away. Not that it was all the difficult to do. But the different name seemed like they was trying to cover it up.

I was kind of underwhelmed by the Caprica pilot. I liked it to a point, but I wasn't left wanting any more. I'm sure they could do some great things with the series, but the pilot didn't really give me an idea of what those things would be. It was mostly an enclosed story, so figuring out where they'll go from here isn't easy.

This is my awesome signature…please don’t step on it.

I agree, it didn't leave you wanting more. But that's because the story was wrapped up. But what did leave me wanting more was the way the setting was presented. I always liked the idea of all of the colonies having different personalities, and Caprica did a good job of showing that. Battlestar never really dove too far into that bit of information, even though it touched on it a couple times.
