I don't really have a topic that I wish to discuss at the moment, but I thought the forums could use a Song of Ice & Fire thread.  Since Randy talks about it a lot, maybe it'd be good to have a place to discuss things.

In the meantime, anybody want to place bets on whether we'll see A Dance with Dragons this year? Wink

Makes legitimate points there about it being late. I assume it will be done when it's done. But I really wish it was sooner rather than later.

I completely understand that it will be done when it's done.  Like you, I just hold out hope that it will be done sooner rather than later.

I do think that the complaints are legitimate concerning it's lateness, however. It was supposed to be virtually done when the last book was released, since it was basically one book split into two. They had an initial release date of the year after AFfC, which would have put it out in 2006. 3-4 years delay for a book you say is almost done isn't really understandable.

Very much so. It's from the ASoIaF calendar, for those that don't know. I really wanted one, but they sold out before I ever got the chance to order one. Very sad. All of the art is GORGEOUS. I have the art book (Which I recommend, BTW), but this makes me want a new art book, with nothing but art from the same artist.

That picture just makes me want to see ASoIaF on a giant IMAX screen.  The place in the picture and The Wall would be particualrly impressive.

They need a really good cgi person on the staff so that they can make stuff like that without going ridiculously over budget.

According to the horribly boring and brainwashing-ly bad training thing I had to go to today, our company's buyer says that this fall is definite for the next Song of Ice and Fire… just wanted to pass along the scoop.

Interesting post over at io9 today on why the next book might be late. Has Martin written himself into a corner?

Personally I don't think so, and he can take his time if it makes the book better. Just don't die on us!
