Or other reading devices. I have been seriously considering getting one, but I want to hear from someone who already has one. I have rheumatoid arthritis and I'm finding that holding books is getting to be too painful (seems to be why I've had no motivation to read for months now – thanks to hubby for figuring it out). He is all ready to jump into getting one for me, but I'm still hesitant. Still attached to the old school paper, I guess. And it's a lot of money to spend. So, are they worth it? How do you like it? Are they as light as they are reported to be?

Kindle vs. Sony – who's better? Thanks for any insight you may have to offer!

Personally I want a Kindle 2 myself. It is slightly more expensive byt seems to be getting great review. I don’t know much about the two besides that the Kindle has a great battery life and books can be very cheap.

I am very interested in hearing what other have to say as well. I have never used one, but have been considering buying one. The fact that they can hold multiple books is cool. So if you go away you don't have to take up space with books. If you finish a book and want something new, you can just buy another right then and there.

What might be cool for you Jen, is that the Kindle 2 has the text to speech thing. I know it's not the same as reading yourself and it takes longer – but if you get sore you can just turn that on. I was thinking that would be cool for me as I get migraines. I always have to go from book to audiobook, and it's hard to find my place. Plus, there's no buying 2 books (one paper, one audio).

What I want to know is; does the Kindle edition get released on the same day as the hard cover edition? I like to get certain books the second they are released.

We were talking about the Kindle today, and decided we'll want one when it can replace books, newspapers, and magazines and has a fast version of Apple's Cover view that will allow us to “flip through” books and magazines.

I defiantly like the idea of the e-reader and the Kindle 2 looks amazing. The thing that is really stopping me from getting one is the entry price. When your going to have to spend $10 a book, it's hard to justify the $359 price tag on the Kindle 2. Once the price point goes down I'm going to jump on the bandwagon but till then give me good ol' paper.

My ordered me the Kindle 2 , but I have not recieved it I’m looking forward to using it. I downloaded the manual for it and some features look great. It will play mp3 and audiobooks. My only problem is that I’m not sure what formats for E-books it will play. The manual says .txt. You can send in PDF and others and they will convert them for you(for a fee). I have Loads of ebooks in numerous file types that I hope to use but I’m not sure if they will work.
