haha, whilst you’re all voting, I can sneak out and get all the new games for myself
I really want to play Gears of War 2…
Wonder if the James Bond game will be any good…
The James Bond game is awful, like the movie
@Imrahil: I am pumped about Gears 2. If you’ve seen any of the video reviews, it’s really looking special. The big problem with the first game was that some of the story was a little shallow. They should have explained it a bit better and had a bit more emotional response from some of the characters to counter balance Marcus’ bad ass attitude. Still loved the game, but it did have that problem. However, in this case it looks they are setting Dom up to be the emotional counterweight to Marcus. The Story looks a lot deeper, and they say that you get a lot more insight on the Locust. Plus, it LOOKS even more fantastic than the first game. Which is always a good thing, to me.
@TNN: The Bond game was looking good. But once hands on impressions started coming out, it didn’t look so hot. I would be cautious with that title. I don’t know what went wrong though. It uses the CoD4 engine, which is awesome. Also, Trey Arch (The creators of CoD3 and CoD: World at War is the one developing the title. Maybe it just took too much of a back seat to CoD:WaW.
This week starts a mad rush of games for me. I finally finished Fable 2 yesterday morning just so I would have time for Gears 2. However, after that I have Banjo Kazooie and Left4Dead over the next 2 weeks. This is unfortunately why Fallout 3 had to be pushed back until next year. I just could not see giving it the time it needed if I got it now.
I think Gears 2 looks like a better game than the first, but it’s still just a rental for me. The first game was kind of fun to play, but it didn’t really grab me enough that I’m anticipating the new one.
After playing the Mirror’s Edge demo, I can’t wait to get my hands on the full game. The only thing I’m worried about now is if the game will be long enough. I have this fear that it will end up being a very short game.
I might pick up Banjo Kazooie, but I haven’t decided for sure yet. I might sink some more time into the demo to decide if I’ll enjoy it or not. It’s pretty hard to argue with the price though.
I am also looking forward to seeing how the Tales of Symphonia sequel turns out. I had a lot of fun playing the first one on the Gamecube, so I hope the sequel is just as good or better.
After that, I’m really looking forward to Prince of Persia the first week of December.
Gears 2 is really about the multiplayer for me. So that throws it out of the rental category. Mirror’s Edge looked fun, but I didn’t like the button layout, and I got a bit dizzy playing it with all the flipping of the camera and such. Banjo Kazooie is definitely still on my list after playing the demo. It was fun.
Also, I can’t wait for the Left4Dead demo that drops this week with pre-order of the game (Or if you go to Gamestop’s website and plug in any Gamestop transaction code from a receipt).
Did you pre-order it? If so, let us know what you think of the demo. I might add it to my list if it turns out to be great fun.
Yeah, I did. But unless they’ve changed something since the World at War beta, anyone that can produce ANY Gamestop/EB receipt can enter the number on their website, and get a beta invite.

Sweet. I’ll have to try entering in my last receipt from GameStop to see if it works.
I just got the Batman The Complete Animated Series box set in the mail from Amazon today. I have been wanting to buy the series and revisit it for quite a while, but the individual sets never seemed to go on sale. When I saw this box set was coming out, I jumpe don the preorder sale that Amazon had for it a couple months back.
If you’ve been wanting to buy the series like me, but you haven’t got it yet, this box set is a great way to get it, and the price isn’t too bad either. The packaging is awesome, including some embossed images on the black part of the box that you can’t see in the basic screenshots online. This set has all the discs from the previous sets, a brand new documentary on the show, and a fairly large art booklet. I also like the fact that the packaging for this set fits more in line with the art from the show than the individual season sets do.
Anyway, I can’t wait to dive back into this show, and I wanted to tell you guys about it. I know this post wasn’t about video games, but this seemed like the most likely topic to put this in at the moment since the message board is a ghost town.
I just got my L4D key in tonight. The demo goes live at 2am PST tomorrow, so I’ll be playing it tomorrow after work…
Fantastic demo, BTW. If you haven’t given it a try yet, definitely do so soon. If you are a Zombie fan, you should love this game. Very chaotic, great intro video. It’s top notch. Seriously.
So what do you get to play in the demo? A single-payer level and a multiplayer map or two?
I know someone who said they got the Gamestop website to email them a code without putting in any receipt information. They just put their name and email into the form, and they got the code. I’ll have to try that myself later….
I played a bunch more of the Banjo Kazooie demo last night, and I enjoyed it much more than the first time I played it. It gets much more fun when you take the time to get more parts. This time I ran around the hub world and got four or five crates of parts before I started playing any of the challenges. I built a fun vehicle with springs on the bottom and propellers on the front. It was funny when you got airborne because it wanted to fly, but didn’t have any wings to keep it up in the air. The result was you could glide along as you fell, making falls a lot slower. I am definitely asking for Nuts & Bolts for my birthday in a few weeks.
The multiplayer in the demo is basically the single player in co-op mode. In fact, they single player and multiplayer are exactly the same, except in one you have players, and the other you have bots. The Zombie vs Human multiplayer matches aren’t in the demo. With that said, there are 2 chapters of the game included. I played the first chapter two times. Both times were pretty different in pacing and enemy variety. I was pretty impressed.
Woo hoo! I just got a code to download the Left4Dead demo. :D
I’ll be downloading it once I get home from work. Maybe I’ll slay some zombies with you this weekend, SaberJ.
I’ll be on the lookout for you, since I can’t get anyone else to play with, apparently. Let me know how you like it, either way.
I just got the Gears 2 LE this morning. My brother had his graduation today, so I got less than an hour of playtime in (and less than 3 hours of sleep all day). However, I can already tell I’m going to love the story mode. Co-op is always a lot of fun for me. However, I’m having major issues even getting into a game of multiplayer. Apparently, if you have a party of 5 people, it’s easy. But it’s just me. So very sad. If anyone picks this up and wants to get some games or a Horde mode run through going, let me know.
I saw you online a couple times this past weekend. Unfortunately, it was right before my wife went on a couple Viva Pinata marathons, when I was getting off the 360.
I really liked the Left4Dead demo. It gives you a pretty good taste of what the game is like. I agree on the intro video. It was pretty awesome.
I think I might only be able to play the game in bursts though. It kept me on edge the whole time I was playing it. I was always waiting for a horde of zombies to show up. When they do, it gets pretty intense. I will say that the AI for your squad is pretty good, but this game was made to be a billion times more fun if you play it with friends. I can imagine all the screaming and yelling that would be going on. :D
Maybe we can get a few more people to try it out once the demo gets released for everybody in the next day or so.
