This looks awesome! The last Ghostbusters video game I played was Ghostbusters 2 on the old Nintendo Entertainment System. Its funny when I think about it but I remeber a level where you controlled the Statue of Liberty, and you had to shoot ghosts out of the sky with slime shooting out of the torch, lol.
Are the original actors voicing thier digital counterparts? It sounded like them but I’m not sure. I did have one other question because I heard that this was going to be called Ghostbusters 3, now I see that its just referred to as the video game. Does that mean they might be going ahead with a third movie?
@Damien – It is indeed the real actors portraying the roles in the game. They all came back to record the lines. Also, a Ghostbusters 3 is happening very soon. Two writers from The Office are working on the script with Dan Akroyd right now.
Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd were also involved in writing the script for the game.
I just read a hands-on preview of the game over on Destructoid. They seemed to like it a lot. Hopefully the whole game is able to capture the Ghostbusters vibe, including lots of humor. I want a funny Ghostbusters game! :D
…urmm…how do I put this…? HELL YEAH. I wanted to be jaded and look for all the shortcoming, but my excitement kinda squlethced all of that
Finally something that will not trample on my childhood like Godzilla.. This looks amazing.
I wish this was a movie!
Okay someone on here is buying me a 360 so that I can play this game. NOW. Any takers?
Ha.
Damien- I totes remember that game. It was when I still needed my brother’s help to beat the harder stuff in video games so all three of us kids played it (and kicked my baby sister outta the room cuz she was a baby). I remember that you drove the car around and sometimes it stalled and you had to get out and push. (Or maybe I’m imagining it…)
@ TheDoctor – Thanks. looking forward to that movie:-)
@ Sunshineyne – I kinda remember a level where you drove the ectomobile I think you had to dodge ghosts or something:-)
If anybody else can remember that game let me know if I’m right.
Love it, looks like it could be great fun
Damien- I probs have it on my comp somewhere. I have a Nintendo emulator and a friend gave me roms for, like, every original NES game. (And barely takes up space on my computer, lol) so give me a min to look if it’s there….
*Tick tock tick tock*
I do have it. Ohhh… when I have some time I’ve gotta replay it now that I can handle video games without my big brother’s help, lol.
If you haven’t watched The Angry Video Game Nerd review the original Ghostbusters game for the NES, go here: http://www.cinemassacre.com/new/?page_id=9 and watch it. I believe he also reviewed the second one (Which I believe was the statue of liberty one), but I’m not sure. Needless to say, I sometimes forget how much nostalgia replaced my distaste of some of those old games. They were really bad. One of the games that I remember hating, and that guy reviewing relived my hate, was the original TMNT game for the NES. God I hated that game. Swimming underwater defusing bombs while trying to not get electrocuted was retarded.
I was totally going to link to those reviews, when people started mentioning the classic NES Ghostbusters games.
Here are the links to part 2 & 3 of that review in which he reviews the 2nd NES game that Damien was talking about:

I am definitely pumped for the new Ghostbusters game. And yes, the original games for the NES were sucky. The Angry Video Game Nerd says it all.
I remember the NES TMNT game being, like, one of the hardest games. Don’t think we ever beat it. W never had a ton of games for the Nintendo. Unlike the bad guy from The Wizard- HE HAD ALL THE GAMES AND THE POWER GLOVE! NOBODY I knew had ALL THE GAMES!
And yeah, I’ve been playing the Ghostbusters 2 game for a few minutes here right now and I’m getting a little frustrated with it. Whereas I can still pop in, say, Mario 3 and have fun with it.
if the game is any thing like the movies it will be super cool
