You’re right about one thing: super heroes arent going anywhere. But I think Devin makes a good point that the Big Two universes of 6 month tie in cross overs and 60 year continuities seem impossibly dated.

The People vs. George Lucas looks pointless. I mean Star Wars is my favorite movie of all time and the prequels I think are bearable and ok for what they are (nowhere near the originals). This just looks uninteresting to me…I’d rather see fanboys ;)

Inglorious Bastards looks great. Pitt looks like he’s gonna be incredible, and with Tarantino at the helm it could possibly be my favorite movie of the year. The trailer was also really well put together and gave you the basic gist of the flick.

Mermaid looks like it could be really good, or just weird. Who knows? it’s up in the air.

“Tales of the Black Freighter”…I don’t know what to make of it. It’s kinda weird that they are choosing to go with an anime look even though the graphic novel looked nothing like that. However, it worked with Gotham Knight, so what’s to say it won’t work here.

did anyone else kinda think it was poor choice of words with the whole “you haven’t seen WW II till you seen it through the eyes of Tarantino.” I just think it makes it sound kinda like hes going to tell a better cooler story than anything actually done in that “boring” old word…

Dont get me wrong, I’m totally wanting to see this!

Random comment for this thread but i’ll bite.

I really doupt superheroes will ever go away untill people can start flying for themselfs… the intrests too great.
I think the fact most people cant think passed superheroes in comics does a great disservice to books like preacher, ytlm, walking dead, ect. and the medium in general.

Yeah, that’s a good point.

When Tarantino first started talking about this script his casting ideas were Schwartzeneger, Stallone maybe Dolph Lungren or something…

Then he ends up casting BJ Novak and the little shit from Freaks and Geeks. I still can’t believe he cast that guy. Plus, if I’m not mistaken Mike Meyers is in the film.

Tarantino has always had a genius for casting but in this instance I just can’t see it.

Inglorious Basterds looks insane, I can’t wait.
As for Mermaid, I have a feeling that its actually a really great film, its just too different to really promote it through a trailer.

Tales of the Black Freighter: This really bugged me when reading watchmen, i always found it interupting and hard to read. I get why its there…it just never seemed nessassary.
