‘The Graysons’ are coming to the CW

The CW is developing a series based on the life of original Robin, Dick Grayson, pre-Batman.
“Smallville” executive producers Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson, and “Supernatural” executive producer McG, have landed a put pilot commitment at the network for The Graysons. Keep Reading for more details.
The Graysons will follow the world of Dick “DJ” Grayson before he takes on the iconic Robin identity and aligns himself with Batman. So, one would assume the show will contain lots of circus-related mayhem.
The Graysons is being seen as a potential replacement for Smallville should that show end its eight year run this season, which has been widely speculated. Should Smallville’s ratings garner a ninth season and return next year, The Graysons will work as a companion piece.
In the one-hour Graysons which will be set in modern times, young DJ will face challenges involving first loves, young rivals and his family as he grows up. Souders and Peterson have come up with an original take on the character.

I am not sure what to think about this yet. I could go either way, really good or really bad. I will give it a shot and hopefully will not be disappointed.
On a side note hopefully this won’t turn into a Mercy Reef were they order the pilot and then decide not to go with it.
Well, lets hope it doesn’t suck like Smallville or get cancelled before it even goes on air like Mercy Reef. And I personally think The Graysons is a stupid name for a TV show.
at this point, I couldn’t care less, and the description doesn’t exactly fill me with hope for the project. Perhaps I will change my mind once we actually get to see the thing, but until then I remain very, very skeptical.
This is a terrible idea.
Really?.. I mean.. come on. We don’t need another Smallville (which has been pretty much crap with like 2-5 good eps/season since season 4). Come up with an original idea that might actually be good. If only Mercy Reef would’ve been picked up.. of course then one of the few good characters on Smallville would’ve been replaced.. I won’t get my hopes up and maybe the CW won’t dissappoint me that way.

I’m sorry, what’s the point of Dick Grayson without Batman? If it does happen, we’ll be in the same boat as Smallville. Waiting season after season for Batman. (or Clark to become Superman.) And it’s called The Graysons, not Dick Grayson, or DJ Grayson… Nope, it’s gonna be about ALL the Graysons a la Gossip Girl, or 90210. Nothing wrong with those shows, but they’re not set in a world with Batman.
DJ.. I think he was channelling Full House there for a second.. Now all we need is for Kirk Cameron to come on and play Dick’s older brother who is only seen in like 2 episodes…
I really don’t like the sound of this. I know the CW will keep smallville unless it has a major drop in ratings, and as far as last season it still had the highest ratings on the CW.
so the only slot they would be likely to put this is right after smallville. so far every year they have almost not picked up Supernatural, due to its ever shrinking ratings. I would really expect them to see this as a better companion for Smallville.
But I would much rather lose Smallville.
Tonight, on The Graysons- When the Circus’s star elephant gets a major tummy ache, its up to the Grayson boys and their loyal dog Sproket to get to the bottom of it. Also, uh, Edward Nigma pops up. For like, a second. We swear. Maybe he’ll even be wearing green. Please watch.

I am not really excited about this at all.
My enthusiasm for Smallville is continually waning with every episode, so . . . I don’t know. Might be good.
Didn’t they leave Batman out of Smallville because essentially Bruce Wayne is just a rich kid before he becomes Batman, isn’t that the same problem here, Dick Grayson is nothing before his parents die and is taken in by Bruce Wayne… I can’t even believe this show could be a reality, this is an awful idea.
Would a show about Nightwing be better?
Dick Grayson IS Nightwing…
I think he knows Dick Grayson is Nightwing, but this isn’t a show about Nightwing, it’s a show about some family in a circus. I think TAAI was thinking about a show that chronicles the adventures of Nightwing… when he is Nightwing.
