Heroes Reboot. Again.

Tim Kring hopes to draw back viewers of NBC’s once mega-hit Heroes. Could it work?
Volume Four, titled “Fugitives,” is supposed to be a back-to-basics approach that will bring back old fans of the show and draw in new viewers, according to Kring. New viewers will not need to be familiar with the previous Heroes season to be able to jump into the back half of Season 3.
Kring told TV Guide, “This volume starts us pretty much from scratch. There is almost nothing that the audience needs to know from the previous volume in order to follow the storyline.”
News of this interview comes in a timely fashion to start building hype for the upcoming episodes. For the first time, Heroes did not get an early renewal notice from NBC.
Honestly, my biggest complaint from Season 3 was the way many of the characters didn’t seem to progress past their Season 1 origins. Getting back to the “ordinary people with extraordinary powers” theme may just be the infusion of adrenaline this show needs to get back to being the amazing show it once was.

I hope it does work. I miss GOOD Heroes. Characters need an expiration date. I mean remember when Molly mattered? At least Heroes is able to change “chapters” mid-season if something (or everything) isn’t working.
I’m sorry. I might be in the minority here, but this show deserves cancellation or atleast my complete lack of watching. Season 2 was a let down. Sure, it happens to lots of shows. Wasn’t the worst thing in the world. But season 3 is beyond disappointment. I mean it’s like watching a live action version of Jeph Loeb Ultimates 3/Ultimatum.
I think I am in the minority to say I didnt hate season 3. Sure it wasnt as good as season one, and sure I was let down by season 2….. but I am still attached to the characters….well some of them anyway.
I think the biggest reason people dont like the show now is because its hard to live up to how great the first season was…. so they have been scrambling the show was crushed buy its own success.
The lesson we should learn from smallville is that even when a show looks like it should be put down, it might just supprise you…. give it time to get on its feet again.
In the immortal words of Thomas Wayne:
“why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselfs back up”
I have to agree with grendel. While I loved season 1 of Heroes everything that followed has been one disappointment after another. The characters became flat, two-dimensional, and utterly predictable. Suresh blunders, Clair complains, Noah totes the line, crosses it for a few cool moments, then sneaks back across to be the “nice family man” until they see the ratings drop again, ect, ect. The whole show became predictable in the worst sense of the word.
As a counter point to Prettz’s qoute,
“If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.”
If it looks like bad TV, airs like bad TV and sounds like bad TV, then it probably is bad TV.
See Smallville and Dr. Who between the 70’s and the new reboot.
Its all a mater of taste, and I am more than willing to admit that if its bad i’ll stop watching….. I believe in second chances…..or 3rd chances I suppose.
Heroes has such great potential, and that’s why I haven’t been able to put down the remote as of yet. I feel like there is still one episode that is going to turn things around and make it amazing again, and I really don’t want to miss that episode. Of course, I tend to live in pipe dream world too – no once can convince me that we won’t one day see a sequel to Serenity.
I loved the beginning of Season 1… hated Season 2 (except some great parts like Peter v. Sylar).
But Season 3 I was really digging until the first reboot. Now…. meh. I’ll keep watching, but really I think they need to get rid of the EPIC WORLD IS GONNA END and focus on the characters and dealing with their powers.
Season 2 got screwed because of the writer’s strike. I remember reading the intended story line for season 2 and it was a lot more interesting. I think season 3 was an attempt to make up for lost time. I really do hope that this next chapter of Heroes brings back the good old days of Season 1, when almost every episode was fantastic.
I have no doubt season 2 would have been better without the strike. However, the future is never an excuse for the present being weak. That said, I don’t like the “It deserves to be canceled” talk. We as geeks have more than enough shows getting canceled without us cheering it on from shows that are still popular.
No turning on our own genres
I don’t think that it should be canceled either, however just because a show is geek-centric does not mean that we should give it a free pass. I want Heroes to be the best show that it can be, and I want it to be on the air, but that’s not not because its a geek-centric show. Its because I think there is a lot of potential for the story and I think it could be the greatest show there ever was.
There is definitely a difference between a free pass and championing its cancellation.
The best thing we can do is keep being vocal about what we don’t like, and and voting with our viewership. The worst thing we can do is starting pushing for it to be canceled. In my opinion, anyway.
Not saying there isn’t potential but I feel as though that as long as Kring is showrunner and the showrunner is as hands off as he is it will never live up to that potential.
That is a reasonable assumption.
I Heroes had the same writing quality and charecters but wasn’t about super-heroes, it would be off the air by now
Yeah of course. People would be like, “Why the hell is this show called Heroes when there are no heroes?” and then stop watching.
well he got me back , I give up on the show last year and start get back into lately thank to netflick ( so great scott gives there an ad for free )
Heros is great I dont know why i ever stop watching it
