Futurama Returns! With A Totally Different Voice Cast….
Friday, July 17th, 2009
It appears that when the cult comedy Futurama returns to TV screens with all new episodes in the Fall on Comedy Central, they’ll be using so without ANY of the central cast. Billy West (Fry, Professor, and Ziodberg), Katey Sagal (Leela), John DiMaggio (Bender), Maurice LaMarche (Kif Kroker) have all been let go by Twentieth Century Fox due to “salary demands.” Now its up to Matt Groening and David Cohen to find an all-new voice cast for all their main characters.

Needless to say,

i wonder what the legality of this is. Can they hire new voice talent to just imitate the same voices like they did with Mel Blanc?
Well that sucks. They were all perfect.
Nothing is set in stone. There’s still a chance that negotiations could be worked out and they can come to some sort of agreement. Personally, this just seems like Fox wanting to spend as little money as possible, so they can reap as much profit for themselves as they can. I mean, doesn’t it seem a little suspect that the voice cast had no problems doing those handful of movies, which sort of came out to about a season of the TV show and we never heard anything about high salary demands. But all of a sudden, Fox is saying the cast is asking for too much? It’s more likely that Fox just doesn’t want to pay what the cast deserves, opting instead to go with cheaper, less established voice talent. What they fail to realize, is that it won’t be the same, and they’re going to lose a lot of fans/supporters. Hopefully, some compromise can be met and we’ll all get Futurama returning the way in which we’re all accustomed.
I wonder how, the last movie kind of ended it with a bitter sweet “and so the adventures continued…maby” kinda way. I can’t imagine anybody else doing the voices, it just wouldnt be the same.
Futurama’s not Futurama without these guys.
This will really suck.
Zion! The war is over! They settled and the old cast is coming back! Let there be dancing in the streets!
Thank God!
Is this going to be on TV soon
