Dollhouse Production Suspended
Friday, September 12th, 2008
Ok, so the title is a little misleading, but according to Reuters, Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse” has shut down production for a couple of weeks. The first 3 episodes have been shot already and Joss is not very happy with how it has turned out. He has requested the shut-down so he can work on the scripts.
Whedon was granted the extra time because the show is a mid-season replacement and there are a few months before it will be airing. It makes you wonder, however, if maybe this has something to do with the executives at Fox wanting a different direction or if it’s really his will to re-work the scripts. Could this be some consipracy like what we saw with Firefly?
We can only hope Whedon is polishing an already wonderful, witty script. This is the view I plan on keeping. When January comes around, we will see if the extra time was worth it.

Y The Last Man Vol. 5In this final Deluxe Edition hardcover collecting Y #49-60, Yorick and Agent 355 prepare for their ultimate quest to reunite the last man with his lost love, while the person, people or thing behind the disaster that wiped out half of humanity is revealed. Then, Yorick Brown's long journey through an Earth populated only by women comes to its dramatic, unexpected conclusion.
Well, they’ve already poured a lot of money into it so they have to have something to air at the end of the day.
I’m worried that maybe there’s just something wrong with the concept itself. I’m a Joss fan to the day I die but I’m not a worshiping one, I am aware he can make a mistake. I hope Dollhouse isn’t one of them… The more I hear about the show the more worried I get.
Dollhouse doesn’t set my heart on fire, it could be good but form what I have seen and heard, it has me nervous for the show.
From what I read in another article, since Joss has been directing the first episodes, he hasn’t been able to focus on writing the scripts as much as he’d like. He’s taking this time to do some hardcore writing to strengthen the series and tie it all together. I think this tends to happen a lot in Hollywood, but before obsessive Internet folk like us, we never heard of it and were none the wiser when the show rolled around. Also, news agencies know they can set the interwebs a-fire with headlines like “Dollhouse has been suspended.” Every article I’ve read has said something like that.
I think if Joss is taking time out from directing to write, that it will end up better in the end. He is concentrating on many aspects of the production and that usually makes a good Joss show episode.
