I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this is the greatest episode of Two Geeks a Mic and a Podcast ever. Havn’t even heard it yet, but somehow I can tell…
Just started listening, but this episode should’ve been called “Oh Geeky Boy”.
Scott I totally agree about Wonder Woman. I loved it and want more. And it was great on blu ray :)
I also agree about the rape. I thought the same thing when I hard that line (”You forced this child…”).
Greek Mythology is hardcore.
I also agree that Boreanez and Fillion could’ve switched roles, but I loved them as they were as well.
Can’t wait to play Resident Evil 5. I haven’t bought it yet, but I will soon.
FYI Scott, the Wii version of Resident Evil 4 has the option to still use a Gamecube controller with it. Plus, I’ve heard that the Wiimote + Nunchuck control scheme is actually pretty good.
The way that RE4’s control scheme is set up lends itself perfectly towards aiming with the Wiimote. Because you have to stop to move, and you were pointing your gun with the analog sticks in the original release, I think it would work great on the Wii. In fact, the pistols all had laser pointers that you had to aim, so it isn’t really that much of a stretch. I still haven’t played the Wii version, but I think that the controls sound good on paper, and I’ve talked to a couple people who have played the game on the Wii, and they loved the controls.
Anyway, RE4 is a great game no matter what system you play it on.
Unless you use the re4 chainsaw controller…. that thing has terrible hand placement.
It is however awesome looking.
I really enjoyed your guys’ review of Dr. Manhattan’s Penis. I’ll have to check it out.
Hey Rusty, how many black and white phots of tough guys in coats, smoking cigerettes do you have?
Tough guy, Camus? It’s good of you to notice though. The similarities aren’t co-incidental, Mickey was modeling himself after Albert Camus for a role.
I just wanted to say that I find it cool that Scott has finally approved my 360 friend request and that I now have Ben on my friends list as well. :D
Carry on.
Now that I’ve been hearing all this talk about RE5 lately, I keep feeling like I need to bite the bullet and go buy it. The only thing that keeps holding me back is I would love to play it co-op, and I’m not sure if it would be as much fun playing it in single player.
Perhaps I should wait until I finish Bioshock, Battlefield: Bad Company, and Oblivion’s main storyline before I get something new to play. Plus I’ve still got Lost Odyssey to play through as well.
Why are there always too many games to play? I wish I was independently wealthy so that I could have more time to play games.
Just play re5 if you need a break, it only too 2 or 3 days to finnish.
I was just listening to Scott & Ben’s discussion on the Drag Me to Hell trailer, and it reminded me of something.
What does everybody think of another horror movie directed by Sam Raimi, The Gift? I think it is an oft-forgotten movie that is really good, if not great. Cate Blanchett and Giovanni Ribisi are especially great in the movie.
I LOVE that movie. Everyone gives a great performance in it. I was even somewhat impressed with Keanu Reeves.
Unfortunately, I think that it’s mostly overshadowed by the fact that it was the big screen debut of a nude Katie Holmes. I remember that being a really big deal. I heard a lot of “Joey Potter shows her *insert inappropriate nick name for breasts* ?!” when that movie came out. So I think a lot of people watched it strictly for that. Kinda like Wild Things and Denise Richards/Neve Campbell.
It’s meh. And A Simple Plan is overrated.
I sometimes forget that the Coen Brothers and Sam Raimi are BFFs.
Holy crap…oh awesome would a Coen Brothers Spiderman 4 be!?
Eh… I think they’d be better suited for Superman. I can just hear their Lois and Clark dialogue.
They’d do something weird and everyone would complain. It would be Ang Lee’s Hulk all over again.
They need to make like, a Booster Gold movie. Someone that no one cares about
They were talking about doing a Tarsan movie awhile back. That wouldve been cool.
By the way, is there some reason you don’t hit the reply button? Do you not like to see your comments beneath others or something?
Patton Ozwald is in Dollhouse!
While we’re on the subject of fantasy super hero movies. Do you know Sam Peckinpah directed a Batman movie?!?! You will believe.
Um…does anyone use the reply button?
Only when they’re replying to people. I’m using it right now. Scott just used it too. Don’t you see the indents?
I didn’t care for The Gift, but did like Katie Holmes’, umm, Katie Holmes. :)
I just ordered RE5, yay! I still need to play Bioshock though :( and finish Mirror’s Edge. :( And I’m still playing Rock Band 2 like crazy though. Finally beat “Visions” on Hard!
And when is Devil’s Roadmap going to debut?
It all depends on when JeyBey returns from his self-discovering journey in Mongolia.
Liked that Scott likes Hockey. Go Wings!
He should start a hockey podcast. PuckCast! I would suscribe to that
Two Geeks a Puck and a Podcast
You’d have to record it while on an ice rink. That’d be interesting
and eat Little Caesars pizza, which seems to be at every ice rink I’ve ever gone to. Better yet, “Two Geeks, A Puck, and a Podcast” sponsored by Little Caesars.
I like the sound of that, free pizza…
Mmmm… Crazy Bread…
Scott you need to get on this…
And if possible, you would both have to do it in Canadian accents
Don’t forget to say ‘eh’ and the end of your sentences.
Actually Ben should threaten to separate in the podcast (that’s meant to be a joke on the fact that he’s said he’s going to quit the podcast before), then there could be a referendum on whether he should separate or not and then the vote should be about 50.4% that he should stay. (or maybe that would be a little too Canadian)
What’s “canada” ?
I gotta say, I actually really feel what you guys are saying in the what makes a geek a geek statement, I recently published a list of my 5 favourite comedies from the 00’s (Knocked Up, Shaun of the Dead, Clerks II, Little Miss Sunshine and The Life Aquatic for thos who are interested) to my facebook page and today I’ve just had some guy telling me that I know nothing about film and that he’s glad to see that this is only being posted by Jack Gregson and not someone who actually understands film. This really gets to me, I understand very little about the world, I don’t get people, I don’t get art, I don’t get music and I’m not intelligent, what I like to think that I do know is film (preferably comedy), it’s my biggest passion in life and when someone tells you “No, you don’t fit here, your oppinion is worthless”, it’s fucking harsh, and has put me in a terrible mood and makes me not want to liek film at the moment (which is a shame asd I just got Zack and Miri and it just reminded me why I lvoe Kevin Smith so much). Scott and Ben clearly do know there stuff, and it shouldn’t be about what makes you a geek, a geek is what you perceive it to be, may it be someone who drools over star trek to someone who just has an interest in cinema, it’s just what you perceive it to be, if you call yourself a geek, then why shoudln’t you be one.
While I somewhat agree with your sentiments, just because you say you are something, doesn’t necessarily make it so. If I start calling myself a rocket scientist, that doesn’t mean I actually am one. Sure, the qualifications for being a geek are much less stringent than being a rocket scientist, but all geeks have certain qualities, no matter what they are “geeky” about (ie. movies, TV, sports, comics, whatever). If someone doesn’t have those qualities, they aren’t a geek.
That said, I would say that just about everyone here is a geek in one way or another. I mean, why else would you come to a website called “Geekshow”? ;)
no, I disagree there, a rocket scientist, is something completely different, I meant in labels terms, like geek, jock, emo whatevver.
Canada why do we let you be a country?
One word: Degrassi.
“You have a thing for Canadian melodrama.”
“No, I have a thing for girls who say ‘aboot’”
:)
Funny, the one sport you guys like, I don’t like (respect, just not like; hockey’s not big below the Mason/Dixon, historically at least).
Ugh Degrassi.
In grade 8 so like 94′ we took the Canadian government approved sex ed. Our class included submitting questions for the teacher to answer and watching an important 2 part episode of (the original) Degrassi in which that Spike chick got pregnant. It was like all that we needed to know could be learned from two hours of a Canadian government subsidized teen soap opera.
But hey the free medical makes up for it.
I like that you call it “Grade 8″ instead of “8th Grade).
we call it year 8. I only know little about Degrassi but thats only because I own the jay and silent bob do degrassi DVD, I liked what I saw… I think
Grade 8 or 8th grade are both common here.
In the late 80’s Degrassi junior high was huge in Canada, but I was 7 when it started so I didn’t really watch it. It ended in like 91 and after like 12 years or so they made the ‘Degrassi next gereration’, which had Jay and silent Bob but I haven’t seen it.
I was a saved by the bell fan.
In hebrew it would seem even weirder to you – “Grade H”, because H is the 8th letter. (well, actually it’s “Grade “, but I think that it would show as gibberish if I wrote it).
hmm, i wrote something in angle brackets, and it just ignored it. I’ll try square brackets:
In Hebrew it would seem even weirder to you – “Grade H”, because H is the 8th letter. (Well, actually it’s “Grade [8th Hebrew letter]“, but I think that it would show as gibberish if I wrote it).
I’ve learned everything I know about the birds and the bees by watching Degrassi.
haha I hope the new Degrassi is more realistic in that case.
