Awesome, when you guys said soon you meant it!
Can’t wait to listen to the episode but I can say this about Nick and Norah: God, such hipster YA junk. I couldn’t get through the book at all, my eyes almost rolled out of my sockets from rolling them too much. That’s all Rachel Cohn writes, hipster trash. There I said it. At least Gossip Girl and Clique are honest in their trashiness. Why don’t they make a movie out of a good YA book? Like the Gemma Doyle books? But then again they don’t have such a good track record at that. Presenting evidence: Blood and Chocolate. Amazing werewolf book. Horrid forgettable movie in name only.
*Vent over*
Didn’t know Nick and Norah was based on a book. I have no interest in reading it, but it’s interesting nevertheless.
I’ll be totally honest here: I am a giant sap. I also love quote unquote “indie rock”. So… I’m sure you can probably imagine what I thought of Nick and Norah… lol
I love teen movies, and I read far too much YA lit for my own good. (though the appeal of Twilight is lost on me. I promised a friend I’d give it another try though because she spoiled something in Breaking Dawn for me that makes me kinda wanna read it. But I’m a stickler so I’ll have to read them all in order first. Though she did say my main problem with the books are not resolved so…) But musically, the last new thing I was into was when I was ten and told my mother I was a riot grrl and she tossed out my Nirvana cd. And at the moment I’m wearing my Blue Oyster Cult t-shirt. I would have been very comfortable living in th 70’s. I’ll be a punk rocker ’till the day I die but I know that real punk died almost minutes after it was created. And if I hear about one more offshoot I will go ballistic on someone. Which is my problem with stuff like this. Just comes off as uber hipster-y. I also feel like Michael Sera is being presented to us as some kind of hipster heartthrob and that kinda annoys me.
Like I said, there’s so much better YA stuff they should make. It disappoints me what they do decide to do. And more unfortunate is that so much of it ends up being bought by Disney so they can churn out a crappy saccharine version of it. (Ex: In the Princess Diaries books, the grandma is a chain smoking alcoholic evil witch who has her makeup tattooed on.)
Anyway: About “W.” I really want to see this. I love Oliver Stone. Yes, I sat through all of Nixon and loved it. I love JFK as well. I’m glad he’s back to politics. That’s really more his game than that dreadful Alexander the Great movie he did. And yes, this is Oliver Stone- it’ll be exaggerated but I don’t care. I’m just glad there are people out there making movies like this that are at least better put together than Michael Moore. And Oliver Stone is a fine filmmaker no matter what.
yes! i did not think you wer serious about the overabundance of two geeks on the way, but im glad theres another episode so soon….
your making randy and wayne look like slackers!
If it wasn’t for Michael Cera, guys like me wouldn’t be getting action with the ladies. And by action, I mean they awknowledge that I’m in the room.
@TNN
LMAO!

I thought it was about time that Ben and I finally stuck to our word about something…
Hey Scott, Ain’t it Cool recently posted an article announcing that those Punisher rumors were false. Lexi didn’t get fired, she just got married and went on her honeymoon. and its still going to be R-rated. No word on whether or not its going to be good though.
I don’t really know if I buy it tho… like the author of the article said: Why is Lionsgate sending out the film’s DP to do the dirty work? Why didn’t they just deny the whole thing when the rumor reared its ugly head to begin with? Why hasn’t Lexi Alexander sais anything about it? Something’s fishy.
And he still didn’t deny the heavy metal soundtrack…
does it feel weird to have fans?
Oh, and according to Oliver Stone, “W” is going to be a dark, satirc comedy, not a straight up biopic.
eep, twas me who congratulated Ben on his “engagement”. I was very happy for him, he seems like a very sweet guy, and at the begining of the last episode when Ben said that he was “in love” I thought it was further confirmation. I think W. looks awesome
As far as Nick and Nora, I’m just not sure. I say yay to Kat Dennings and Michael Cera, but Nay to the hipster vibe. I probably won’t see it in theaters but will definitely look forward to the dvd.
I’m really conflicted now about Punisher. i just got the first one via Netflix (finally; Netflix was kaput for a few days). So if I like the first, then maybe I’ll see War Zone (my brother wants to see it though, so who knows). I do hope it’s R. Why all the hate for metal? \m/ :)
I am looking forward to Max Payne, but I’ve played through both games. Mila Kunis as Mona Sax is awesome. :) I want to say the angel thing is a dream sequence. There’s a trippy dream sequence in MP 2.
I also think Billy Bob as Freddy is interesting. He can be creepy, and Freddy was a pedophile remember. The “hick” accent (how dare you! :)) might just work nicely.
I’m with Scott on the Harry Potter delay. We need more quality movies to look forward to next year, and frankly I’m almost movie’d out already this year. It’s been a packed summer for me.
Kat Dennings stole my heart in “Charlie Bartlett.”
No matter what happens, I will see Punisher: War Zone. Ray Stevenson is that good.
I certainly hope it keeps an R rating. I hope it isn’t cut short. I don’t really care about whether or not the soundtrack is metal. I have my concerns and all, but I will see this movie no matter what.
Good call on boycotting Clone Wars; screw George Lucas.
I don’t know what trailer you watched, but Max Payne looks pathetic. Not even the slightest hint of interest. In fact, I kind of want to do everything in my power to destroy this film.
The Harry Potter move makes me sad.
If Hollywood is going to start copying a popular movie, I’m glad its Superbad.
Hey, I went to see Clone Wars and it really wasn’t as bad as people are making it out to be. The film was no A New Hope, but I really wasn’t expecting that. With the exception of some characters I didn’t particularly like I actually had a fun time with the movie and found it very much like the television show which I really liked. The animation is cool too.
I have to say, I think the animation on clone Wars looks awful, it doesn’t impress me at all, when we have stunning animation this year from Wall-E and Kung-Fu Panda, this one just looks like video game graphics (bad video game graphics)… I might see the film when it comes to DVD but that’s all.
Judging solely on the trailers, I have to say that the animation for Clone Wars looks like a very mixed bag. The character models and environments are well-made and very detailed. They look very good. However, the actual animation is very stiff and very “pose-y” at times. The movement in the lightsaber fights (in the trailers) aren’t fluid at all. Compare the movements of the fights in Kung Fu Panda to the movement in Clone Wars, and you can really see the difference that fluid movement can make.
It seems like the characters in Clone Wars are just “action figures” being moved around, where all the characters in Kung Fu Panda and Wall-E seem like living beings in control of their own actions. That illusion isn’t an easy thing to pull off, and I think that Clone Wars failed to do so, at least with what was shown in the trailers and commercials.
what happened to the If We Ran Hollywood special that was planned or is that scheduled for episode 75?
Episode 75 – If We Ran Hollywood: Justice League and The Avengers
Oh what episode that’ll be. Wasn’t the last If We Ran Hollywood the Teen Titans one with Jey-Bey?
Umm… I think so. Ben hasn’t had any time for research until recently, so we’ve had to put them off. I’d like to make it a monthly thing from now on though.
I remember you mentioned maybe doing a “Nightmare on Elm Street” one as well… I was just reminded of it now after reading the BBT as Freddy news
