Y The Last Man Vol. 5In this final Deluxe Edition hardcover collecting Y #49-60, Yorick and Agent 355 prepare for their ultimate quest to reunite the last man with his lost love, while the person, people or thing behind the disaster that wiped out half of humanity is revealed. Then, Yorick Brown's long journey through an Earth populated only by women comes to its dramatic, unexpected conclusion.

I haven’t had a chance to listen to this yet I’d be interested in you doing a Batman Begins commentary as I believe the movie does not come with one.
We’ll definitely get to it :)
I’m trying to imagine how confusing a Geek By Night audio commentary would be…
Frighteningly so TNN…
It was actually really listenable without watching the movie. Almost a msting version of Spiderman. Quite enjoyable.
In response to NYC accents: they tend to come more from neighborhoods and cultures than just a generic “new york” accent. They’re also different from generation to generation. Most people I know have a very light accent, only a few noticeable traits. It actually bugs me more when people put on really cheesy “New Yawk” accents than none at all.
I’ve accepted they will never show real NYC apartments on films/movies. In real life even rich people in NY live in small apartments and they’d just be impossible to shoot. I remember my first thought when I saw Peter’s “slummy” apartment in Spidey 2 was “I wonder what the rent is like on that place… it’s huge.”
Yay, I love commentaries! I’ve listened to about half of it so far and I think you did a great job. I agree that it would probably be listenable without watching the movie as well.
You should eventually make fun of/do commentary on Spiderman 3 ;) Seriously though, it’d be fun to hear one on the Superman movies.
Enjoyed the commentary a lot guys. It’s fun to hear comments about certain scenes where I didn’t notice little things, some cool, or in Spiderman’s case, cheesey. :) Yes I do like the movie too and am glad Ben said that, hehe, although it seemed quite negative at times, but really negative is more interesting to listen to rather than just cheering.
But call me a crazy heterosexual male but I enjoy nipples. :)
I hope you keep with the comic theme for awhile, X-Men, Batman Begins, more Spider-man etc.
…and to think, they “like this film”…. they were like a pack of wild dogs all tearing apart the movie.
It was really enjoyable, keep it up The Doctor, Imrahil and hey, Lyndsey needs a handle now as well!
@Mr. Pointy
Did we actually say we didn’t like nipples?
The next commentary should be the 80s epic… Wait for it… Back To The Future.
Finally got around to listening to this; I wanted to listen to it while watching the flick: well done, I hope this becomes a regular thing
This dialog caused me to laugh uncontrollably on the bus:
Ben: I like this house, it seems like an old person’s house. With the big fork and spoon. Look at that!
Lindsay: My aunt and uncle had that big fork and spoon.
Ben (with his mouth full): That exact one? They stole it?
Lindsay: Yes
Ben (with his mouth full): Good job! Popcorn?
But now I also have to complain and mention that listening to this without watching the movie is kind of hard to follow. Probably because I haven’t seen this movie in years.
Could you include the audio of the movie in low volume into the mp3? that’s what other commentaries usually do. And if that would bother those who watch the DVD at the same time, you could release two versions. It shouldn’t be too much work to edit.
’cause I have to say, if this wasn’t a commentary by you guys, who I already like, I would turn this off after about 15 minutes.
@Inigo – I’m pretty sure we’re legally not allowed to do that. Maybe we’ll try turning the movie up a bit louder while we’re watching it so that the TV is picked up a bit.
Other than that, I’m not really sure how else to help with listening to it without the movie. I think it would make for awkward conversation if one of us were constantly describing the scene we were watching. It would almost feel like those audio tracks used in movie theaters for the visually impaired.
Yeah, constantly describing the movie wouldn’t work…
Are you sure about the legality thing? I know others do it.
It might be the same as clips on youtube that use copyrighted material in such a way, that they create a new work.
Does anyone know?
On the Harry Potter one (which I listened to without the movie) I could hear bits pieces of the film very clearly.
yeah, the harry potter one you could just about hear the background. I tried to listen to that without the film but I gave up trying to think about what scene they were watching so put the film on along with it in the end.
“It might be the same as clips on youtube that use copyrighted material in such a way, that they create a new work.”
Clips on Youtube get taken down left and right. That’s not something we really want to happen to these podcasts. :P
@Saberj: Not all of them do. I mean the ones that are edited into music videos, or parodies, stuff like that. They change the original work so they’re not violating copyrights.
You can read about it here:
http://www.podcastingnews.com/2008/01/27/fair-use-copyright/
It mentions commentaries as the kind of thing that is allowed.
But with that said, I can understand that you don’t want to even have to think about stuff like this.
Except for just turning up the volume on the TV, I’m not sure how else we could make it easier to listen to without the movie. Beside the fact that I’m not even sure where to get the audio from the movie, it would also be difficult to align the audio to the track of the movie that we are watching. Because if we were to add the audio I would want to make sure the TV volume was low enough not to be heard. I want to help make the show better any way I can, but I’m not sure what to do here.
Side note, I can’t believe how many people are listening to this show without the movie. Its not that I have a problem with that, its just surprising to me.
Turning up the volume, or putting a mic near the TV would really help. TNN said that in the harry potter commentary you can kind of hear the movie, so I hope that will be better.
But I listen for you guys more than for the movie, so it’s ok either way.
are you guys still going to do Commentary, it been months since the last one
