Comic of the Week
C2E2 Comic ConSpecial thanks for the C2E2 for putting on a great convention!! Check out the coverage or order tickets for next year at C2E2.com!!
I enjoyed the episode (as always) guys. FYI…I listen to all of the after credit bonus stuff and laugh every time. Especially this weeks.
So much to comment on this week! Where to begin????
The Following: IS AWESOME! Such an amazing show and I cannot wait to see the next episode to see where it goes. Kevin Bacon was a great choice for the lead.
Zach Snyder: Sorry, but I am just not a huge fan of his. His visuals are generally amazing, but his storytelling is sub par. I LOVED the visuals of Sucker Punch, but the story was crap. With Watchmen, I had not read the comic so I went in purely as a movie fan and was vastly disappointed. Perhaps I would have felt differently if I had read the comic, but overall I was disappointed with the movie. I am hoping that Man of Steel is awesome…but I am just not sure yet.
Question of the week: Clearly I have already won…so just go ahead and mail out the prize now. hahaha.
JJ Abrams: I could not be any happier about a director for Star Wars Episode VII! Can I get in line now to wait for the movie to open????
Justice League movie: I think you are right that it makes more sense that they go with John Stewart GL, but I have read that they are planning on going with Hal Jordan again. Perhaps because the movie fans already know the character? Personally I would like to see Hal again because he is my favorite GL and then see a separate movie with John Stewart and Guy Gardener. And in it they should both kill Kyle Raynor because he still sucks. I also read that the JL movie may have Aquaman in it in a small, but pivotal, role.
Jeff is moving north of Joliet???? Get the hell outta here with that crap!
Blue: Still awesome. He is my boy!
And lastly…..I still hate that we often don’t get a new episode but every other week. I look forward to my Super Geek time and I am sad when I have to wait. Have you guys thought of perhaps doing some one-off minisodes or something to fill those extra weeks when there isn’t that much super news? Maybe a short episode of Geek challenges? Perhaps the episode is you guys challenging US the listeners and having us submit our answers. (No Googling cheaters!). Or perhaps little episodes introducing the listeners to something new….Like Dungeons and Dragons!!! I like it! Lets make that happen guys!
1.) (Zach Snyder) No, I would agree to that completely. He is not a great writer, but yes, with visuals, he tells a fantastic story. I’m hoping for good things with Man of Steel.
2.) (J.J. Abrahms and Star Wars) Okay okay okay, I’m pumped with the hire for director. BUT….I still have no idea what this movie is supposed to be about. I’m very nervous about what the plot of this movie is going to be and that will be crucial.
3.) (JL movie) Yeah, plus they would get the extra Ryan Reynolds draw to the movie if they went with Hal. I’d like to see a GL movie sequel with Guy and John. That would be pretty awesome.
4.) Once Blue starts becoming a more regular host, definitely expect more mini “stand alone” segments to start showing up on the website. We may actually see Jeff doing his DC comics reviews in this same way, so look forward to some new things.
1) I am also hoping for good things with MOS. We are really due for an amazing Superman movie and I hope this is it.
2) Considering they are calling it Episode VII, my hope is that it will have an older/wiser Luke as a full fledged Jedi Master. Perhaps even the head of the Jedi Academy. A new evil lurks (some awesome Sith Lords) and a new young jedi must be trained to take on this task. Bringing Luke full circle and in the position that Obi Wan was when he trained Luke.
3) Part of me thinks they will do John Stewart because they need the cultural variation and also because the JL cartoon had John Stewart.
4) BLUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Another great episode as always. Thanks for all the info on Heroclix. I’ve already checked out the websites you mentioned and they have been very helpful. Thomas it was a Hypertime set i acquired to start off with. Not great i suppose but it was the cheapest!!! I absolutely agree with funnyman every other week simply isn’t enough to satisfy me.I think off week podcasts on different subjects(Heroclix) or D&D are certainly in order……i vote yay…..
Great episode guys
First thing you have ruined me with your heroclix talk, i just blew $20.00 on a new fast forces set and a Atroictous figure for my brother who’s a Red Lantern freak. All i can say is ……thank you!
Next on the superman movie with Jenny Olson ,all i can really say is i think it’s a great idea! A) the actress who plays her is hot B) It will keep all the ignorant fan girls from say crap like “oh Lois should be with jimmy he so normal and down to earth” :P hence creating the dreaded twilight love triangle type thing and i would shoot myself if the happened especially with one of my favorite hero’s. C) it would give Lois someone to bounce off and to be sassy with cause i can see now Amy Adams is gonna be the weak at the knees Lois when superman’s around.
Finally on the John Stewart for the JLA Green Lantern…hmm I’m ok with it but when they announced a JLA movie i immediately wanted to see issues #1-8 on the silver screen because that would be so AWESOME, the problem is John wouldn’t work in that story cause him and Hal are so different. However in a different vain if people could get to know him more in Green Lantern 2 (fighting with Hal against THE SENESTRO CORPS) then i would have a better opinion. Also i was deeply saddened by the news of no Martian Manhunter :( cause then Superman can’t turn rouge !
That’s all i have to say good luck with the move Jeff and congrats on the part, oh yea an the bloopers at the end the week were gold.
So what in y’alls opinion is the best comic book event in all of history that you’ve read. (examples: blackest night , avx, or x-acutioners song)
I don’t know about best, but back in the day I really enjoyed the Infinity War. Not so much for the overarching storyline, but for the evil dopplegangers of the heroes that kept popping up. That was some good fun. There were just so many crossover events, I can’t even remember them all. Civil War was pretty major, but I’ll never forgive them for blaming it on the New Warriors.
