Random thought while watching Scott Pilgrim: Ninja Ninja Revolution needs to be a real game.
I had a blast with the movie. I haven’t read the books, but I am definitely interested in picking them up now. I think my favorite of the running gags were the texting-related ones. Also, the dual cameo at the end of Brandon Routh’s scene absolutely floored me, especially the high five. Scott Pilgrim is the funniest movie I’ve seen in a long time, probably because all the random goofy humor is right up my alley.
So far, this is my #1 film of 2010, and I don’t think anything else coming out later will pass it.
I think it is , i saw it somewhere But maybe the name was diffent but it was the same idea ( DDR and street fighter in the same game )
It’s got to be number 3 for me, I loved every minute of it but it did feel rushed at points. Each time I’ve seen it an Edgar Wright Q and A has been attached which has made it feel a tad more special. God I loved so much about this movie, I really want to see a DVD release crammed with extras, which is usual for Wright.
Awesome to hear your thoughts on this. My fiance saw Eclipse 4 times.. I plan on beating that. It won’t be like when I saw The Matrix 13 times (working at a theater at the time), but hopefully at least 5 times. I was just amazed to see Michael Cera actually kick ass.. it was shocking at first but then became awesome. My favorite evil ex had to be Brandon Routh. So amazing and its good to see him in another humorous role. Can’t wait to see it again.. I’m gonna go buy a ticket for a showing for after work..
What a great flick. I think the one thing that everyone seems to agree on is that we can describe the movie as “fun”. It was such a blast to see it.
The little details were the best thing about the film. When the movie started with the Legend of Zelda music, I was so jazzed! When each fight scene started with a pixelated VS. between Scott and the next Evil Ex, I got really pumped for the fight. Great build up!
I will say the one thing I am disappointed by is the lack of character development for Romona. You guys discussed this. I have read the books and I get the need to condense the story, but…….
I wonder if Romona came off as kind of a bitch in the movie. She is the amazing dream girl, but she is so evasive towards Scott. She ditches him in several scenes, and simply leaves Scott for Gideon, but they never get into the personal reasons why she acts like that. Why it’s her defense mechanism which is explained in depth in the books. I worry it makes her seem less likable. Who knows…..
i’ll block this section off for main page spoilers
******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* The reason the movie gave was that gideon could force her to do things with a microchip in the back of her neck. I agree it came out of nowhere and was kinda stupid compaired to the books.
I thought that part work and it Was funny
Random semi-related tangent: I’ve been rewatching the 1st season of Gilmore Girls, and I was surprised to see a very brief appearance by Brandon Routh in one of the episodes (Concert Interruptus).
I loved this movie but i was kinda sadface that envy wasn’t a bigger character than she was. she was one of my favorite characters in the book. but oh well it was still my favorite movie so far of 2010 and most likely will be unless something just blows me away later in the year.
I’ve seen it 4 times so far and it’s not out over here yet, I’m quite proud of this.
So, just listening to the episode now. Completely disagree with you about Kim, Allison Pill represented Kim to me perfectly, it’s just a lot of her backstory was cut out, but she was Kim all the way for me. Though my favourite representations were Aubrey Plaza as Julie and Kieran Culkin as Wallace, they were absolutely wonderful.
So it seems between all of us on this site we’ve paid for about half of what the movie made ;P hyperbole i know but its good to see so many people liking it
I plan on seeing Scott Pilgrim again this weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing which little details I pick up on that I missed the first time around. I don’t think I’ll end up seeing this 7 times like Scott plans to (and I certainly won’t beat my record of seeing Fellowship of the Ring 14 times in the theater), but I just might have to go a third time before SP leaves theaters. This is the first time I’ve really wanted to do that with a movie in a long time. :)
Scott i’m with ya , This movie is so great I want to see it again and again and again and 1,000 times more .
I really loved it; it’s up thee with Kickass, although Kickass is more my style (the ultraviolence and cursing)
Allison Pill was my favorite part. She was great on In Treatment: Season 2 and was completely different (sign of a good actress).
And that was Clifton Collins Jr (Crank High Voltage) with Thomas Jane. That was hilarious, and I loved the bass battle, so well done.
And I was hoping if this movie were more popular blue and purple hair would catch on with the ladies.
that movie was freaking epic, probably my new top movie of the past 10 years
