Scott Pilgrim Vol. 1-6From writer/artist Bryan Lee O'Malley comes the story of Scott Pilgrim, the 23 year old slacker who's precious little life is turned upside down when he meets the girl of his dreams (literally), Ramona Flowers, and discovers that in order to be with her, he must fight and destroy her seven evil ex boyfriends. I really enjoyed this episode even though it’s been a long while since I’ve picked up a comic book.
So, I’m sure that what I’m about to say sounds funny. It always sounds funny when someone says it. It’s like when people a decade ago used to say the Little Mermaid was hot. But….I’ve always had the hots for Kitty Pryde; even from the beginning. She has always been such a great, well, written character. She is the lovable girl. My first comic book crush…haha
However, somehow she had kind of been put to the side in the background by X-men writers the last few years. I believe you touched on this a bit, but Whedon brought back Shadowcat as such an intelligent, funny presence on the team. It was excellent! And something has to be said for Cassiday’s art. I know I’m going to get the “What a Weirdo” Award, but he draws a gorgeous looking Kitty Pryde.
I love Kitty. And I think one of the reasons I liked her in Astonishing was because she was the perfect character for Whedon to write.
Of course, I also thought Ellen Paige’s Kitty was one of the best parts of X-Men 3, so I’m probably biased.
