Then, Yorick Brown's long journey through an Earth populated only by women comes to its dramatic, unexpected conclusion.
I’m thinking Glee takes place right after Xmas break? Maybe?
The director of Vocal Adrenaline is played by Idina Menzel; she played opposite Kristen Chenoweth in Wicked (she was the Wicked Witch I think); she has a fantastic voice.
I don’t think Emma being a virgin is too far fetched; there are late 20’s (early 30’s) virgins. And she has that OCD/germ thing.
But this was also my least favorite episode too.
I loved Kick-Ass and will also be seeing it again. I just ordered the graphic novel, so I’m curious to see the differences.
If you like the gun play in Kick-Ass (the gunkata, I think they call it), watch a movie called Equilibrium (Cristian Bale); it’s really good IMO.
I buy the Emma thing, personally. Never underestimate the extremes of a germaphobe.
Mostly I liked seeing a 13 year old girl doing awesome gun play. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Kick Ass is definitely paying homage to Equilibrium in parts. I think it’s funny how many movies have borrowed heavily from Equilibrium since it came out, especially the “gunkata” and the opening shootout in a pitch black room. I saw the movie soon after it came out and loved it (despite the slow middle act). The movie isn’t perfect, but it does a lot of cool things with a pretty small budget. You’ve got to love the movie just for the part with Christian Bale and the puppy. ;)
Also, I like to think that Equilibrium was a big part of what got Christian Bale the Batman role.
It’s too bad Kurt Wimmer screwed things up when he got a bigger budget for his next movie. He basically tried to make the same movie with a slightly different (and much glossier) skin and a female lead. What we got was Ultraviolet. Wimmer pretty much tried to copy himself with a lot of the action scenes, and I think he just got a bit lost playing with more expensive toys. It really sucks too because I thought the trailers for Ultraviolet looked great, the excellent choice of music probably helped.
I absolutely loved Idina in Rent.. she has a great voice and I can’t wait to see more..
Yeah, never really had a problem with the time lapse in Glee, I just assumed they’d all just returned to school after some sort of Holliday.
I think a Kick-Ass sequel is definitely on the cards as it has already made it’s budget back and I’m sure will make more. In fact, Universal (who released it in the UK) have said that it is there highest UK opening in years (even though it opened at number 3, it still beat movies like Inglorious Basterds, Wanted, The Incredible Hulk) and it is infact the highest grossing movie ever to pen up in the number 3 spot in the UK Box Office, needless to say, the studio execs are happy.
Scott and Randy, I am interested to know what you thought of the Madonna episode of glee now that it has aired. It sounds like I might of liked Hell-o a little more than you guys but I still get what you guys were saying. There were parts that made me cringe (Like Scott’s example with the conversation before the Door’s song).
I did listen to the Kick-Ass conversation but I have not seen the movie yet. Listening to you guys just made me want to see it more though. I know a lot of people do not like to be spoiled but for me all spoilers do is make me want to see it even more. That way I can see what you are talking about unfold on the big screen. I think I am going to see if this Saturday afternoon.
I really liked it. The songs were great, and the characters were starting to settle back into their roles quite well. It’s still not at the top of it’s game, but it felt like a typical episode for me. Very fun. Though I fast-forwarded through the Vogue video. I like the song and that version, but I hate the video, even though I respect what they were doing. Didn’t need/want to see it again.
Still not back at the top of its game, but I did enjoy it much more than “Hell-o”. I guess they just announced a sequel to this episode for next season… I really don’t think that necessary but the episode was fine.
I had a blast with Kick Ass. The biggest complaint I’ve heard from people is that the action was way too unrealistic for a movie that’s supposed to be about “real life” superheroes. Personally, I didn’t go in expecting any sense of realism. I mean, did you see any of the commercials? Kick Ass is still very much a superhero movie set in a fantasy world of heightened reality.
I have to say that my favorite thing from the entire movie was the bazooka. Or possibly the look on Dave’s face during the brief self tanning scene.
Oh yeah! I loved the animated sequence in the middle of Kick Ass. Can’t believe I forgot to mention it before.
Man, I keep remembering things I liked about this movie. The line about Lost was awesome and incredibly geeky.
I loved the animated sequence too, so well done.
I also liked the Madonna Glee episode, save for the Vogue video re-air, ugh.
Kick-Ass was really good i so to see it for the 2nd time tonight , I love the mix of action and comdey .
As for Glee I watch it even now and then but i’m not a big fan.
Kickass was exactly what I wanted it to be, it ran that perfect blend of original content and acurate to the book. I didt know hat it was planned to be a trillogy, I cant wait to see what happens next.
So far I can only see scott pilgrim taking its place as #1 movie this year.
I tried to watch the first few episodes of glee…..Idont know I just cant get into it.
I loved Kick Ass.. It was so great. And the whole ending was so amazing.. I think I actually did fall out of my seat when Kick Ass showed up again.. it was amazing and I hope it picks up a little bit.
