In this episode, we try to clean the slate, but we can still see all the old stuff that is left behind. And if you have no idea what I’m talking about, you need to go watch Dollhouse. During the episode, we discuss that and much more. Full details after the break.

Y The Last Man Vol. 5
This episode is having some sort of problem. I click to play it once and I get a Wordpress database error. I refresh that same page and I get the mp3. Because of this it isn’t connecting with iTunes at all and will not download.
actually, this one is fine. the two geeks episode is not dowloading though.
there’s a Two Geeks episode?
There’s always a Two Geeks episode…
You seem to be in a good mood Ben… well done, like steak
Hmmm. Working for me too. Sounds like Podpress is having fits…
Heard you guys talking about doctor who and that reminded me to let you 2 know I was at comic con in new york city feb 8th-9th and I got to meet Colin Barker who was the sixth doctor. I’m hoping at the next comic con tennant will be there.
Here’s a photo of me and him along with his autograph

Very awesome. I know how much fun it is to meet the big stars. James Marsters and Kristen Bell are still my favorite two star run-ins. They were both fantastic.
*giggles* I got to meet him too at the con. Very nice man. I had on a Led Zeppelin shirt and he was telling me about what a nice guy Robert Plant was. Needless to say I was too star struck to say anything.
I haven’t listened to the episode yet (I’ll get to it at work tomorrow), but I wanted to know if you guys spoil anything about Dr. Who since it is in the topic list. My wife and I just finished the third season this past weekend, and we’re looking forward to starting the fourth as soon as we get the disc from Netflix. I figure the podcast is probably fine as you guys are usually pretty good about spoilers, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.
Good question. It’s often hard to know what others might consider a spoiler. Did you know there are cybermen in the Christmas episode? :P That may be one, but now you don’t need to be careful about it.
Seriously enough though, I think that most of the talk centers around whether or not to hate Donna. I think Wayne may have said that he loved the last episode, but I don’t think any real details were given. Maybe someone else could answer this for you?
The movie Mash was a dark comedy, like the TV show.
And they used the Korean war to make fun of Vietnam, so I think, in order to make fun of Iraq (or satirize the Irag war, they’d have to choose the first Gulf War or Grenada or something).
I’m old. :(
The whole thing with the movie MASH was that they never referred to the war as Korea so a lot of people going in originally thought it was set in Vietnam.
Great movie, different from the show in a lot of ways- though I will always love that show. It was weird when I was a kid and re-runs would come on I’d hate it (because I didn’t get it) than I started watching it in college at 11 at night just for something on whilst I was doing HW and started getting the jokes and realized how insanely funny it was. I still can’t believe that America really embraced that show- considering how completely different it was at the time and how dark it could be.
Interesting MASH factoid: Robert Altman forwent his salary on the movie so that the budget could be higher- the only Altman to make money from the movie was his son- he wrote the theme song (”Suicide is Painless”) and when they used it for the theme song to the show he got residuals for it.
Same here. I hated MASH when I was younger. They used to air Cheers at 10pm every night during the Fall and when summer came along they switched to MASH and I hated it.
However, in college I watched a few episodes and started liking the show. I guess satire takes a bit of maturity to enjoy.
The youtube limit for basic users its actually 10:59 so im pretty sure you could of fitted it in two parts just.
OH and Amy Acker seemed a non evil character to me too. If anything maybe she wants to help echo out of there or something. I wonder how amy could of handled playing Echo since i thought she did a great job with angel season 5s splitness.
That’s what I got too. I think Wayne may have been on some sort of drug at the time. Possibly hopped up on Red Skittles. I can’t confirm or deny that, though.
I think Wayne just saw her scars and thought “evil” because you know… disfigured people are never on the up and up.
Stop blowing off my Red Skittles theory. :P
Oh and Scott, as someone with facial scars, thanks for that comment! I prefer the red skittles theory.
I think you forgot to peel back the layers of sarcasm that was wrapped around that comment, WJ. ;)
Or maybe Wayne has just got this all worked out and she is evil but we’re all too blind to notice and couldnt match Waynes reasoning skills!
MMmmm no, skittle theory it is.
I wonder if Acker’s scars came from them trying to make her an Active and went all wrong.
She seemed a bit absent (in mind).
Maybe just a little. :)
I got the impression that Amy Acker was once one of the actives and she knows what is in store for Echo, as in “once in never out.”
Oooh. I like that theory. I just wonder how long the Dollhouse has been around.
I like it too!
BTW still can’t find this ep on itunes yet :o
*sigh* WTF. Randomly, the software decides to not set the episode to appear on the feed. Should be fixed now. Pinged itunes with the change.
It’s fixed.
BYW the dangly skin things you’re referring to on the roof of your mouth after eating a too hot slice of pizza are called “curtains.”
*gulp* sorry about the book e-mail, lol. I had a few beers in me the night I fired it off and just got rambley and nostalgic. I’ll refrain myself in future e-mails. :P
BSG has been great this year, and I can’t wait to see what happens in the few episodes we have left. FYI, Razor takes place during a few different time periods, including a few flashbacks to the original Cylon War.
Sorry that I forgot to send in an answer for the gaming console question. My personal favorite console of all time is the Gamecube. I have a soft spot in my gamer heart for all the great PC games I played growing up (Commander Keen, Duke Nukem, Doom, Wolfenstein, Warcraft 1 & 2, Space Quest, Police Quest, Starcraft, Diablo, Carmen Sandiego, Age of Empires, etc), and the 360 is quickly climbing to the top spot with all the enjoyment I’ve gotten out of that console since I bought it. However, the GameCube is a totally underrated system with a ton of fun games, and it is still hanging on to the top spot on my list for the moment.
As for the Wii, it had a fairly great start, but this past year was pretty disappointing (with only a couple exceptions). I have definitely been spending 90% of my time on the 360, but I haven’t given up on the system yet. I have really enjoyed most of the Nintendo-published titles (although the Paper Mario game doesn’t hold a candle to Thousand Year Door), and there have been a few really good third party games that haven’t sold very well unfortunately. It’s too bad that most of what the Wii gets now are mini-game collections and poor PS2 ports.
Part of my epic e-mail was about old PC games. I still to this day will play and love all the Sierra On-Line stuff. Legends of the Longbow is one of the most underrated games of all time- and Legend of Kyrandia and Kings Quest 6 are two of the best inventory based adventure games ever made.
I really miss inventory based adventure games.
I forgot to send an answer too. My favorite console is the Genesis – Sonic, Mortal Kombat, and Bill Walsh College Football, hell yeah.
I love my 360, but after getting red ringed to death, I put it behind the Genesis. :)
