Y The Last Man Vol. 5
Yay! A ton of podcast goodness to help my Monday workday a little more interesting. :D
I have no idea how this one got to be so long. :)
chuck in 3D sucks well atless the 3D part did but make it just my TV , seeing an almost X rated dream in 3D was cool tho.
I had such a bad headache after watching that show with the 3D glasses. The beginning was definitely awesome but I’ll always hate 3D movies/tv shows with a fiery passion. They never fail to give me a headache. :(
Generally, if it’s not done by Disney, it’s not worth it anyway. IMO, anyway. I’m interested in Up in 3d, seeing as how it’s Disney AND Pixar. So it should be really special.
I had a headache too. And just FYI, the glasses were amber & blue.
Yeah, I was looking at that after recording. I looked at them, “They look Red to me”. Then I held them up to the light, and saw that it was neither red nor yellow, it was orange/amber. So yeah. Thanks :)
Do you know if it’s the digital 3D or standard red and blue glasses?
For Disney/Up? Definitely the Digital glasses if they hold true to their current method. That’s what Bolt was. Worked fantastically. I still have my Bolt glasses. Much cooler and less annoying than the red/blue crap.
Yeah, the polarized glasses allow for a much better, and they are less likely to cause headaches. I’ve seen Nightmare Before Christmas, Meet the Robinsons, Beowulf, Bolt, and Coraline in digital 3D, and I have never gotten a headache from it. It is much easier to get a headache watching a regular TV because it doesn’t have a very high picture resolution.
Ooops. I meant to say “allow for a much better picture”.
I think I hate the red blue / blue yellow glasses
They barely work . Maybe it just my TV.
I think the best 3d movie i watched was Honey I shunk the kids in 3D at Disneyland it was in 3D with but with diffent kind of 3D glasses they look like the sunglasses from the movie ( the safty glasses ) and it look like the people were really there in person , and didnt have the chesse thowing stuff at you scenes .
I’m really loving Heroes so far (chapter 4), having now seen episode 2.
I wanted to watch Chuck in 3D but didn’t get the glasses (had no idea where to find them). And I doubt my bad eyes could see in 3D anyway. I could definitely tell when it was in 3D though, and I liked the episode.
Yvonne Strohovsky (Sarah), has to be the hottest woman on TV, damn. :)
The Gran Torino is the car Starsky and Hutch drove :) (both in the TV show and movie). FYI
I loved both Transformers and GI Joe, so I’m excited about both, but more Transformers.
Dollhouse will be the first Whedon show I’ve seen as aired too. Thought about watching Buffy, but just didn’t. Wasn’t interested in Firefly, boy was I wrong on both (and Angel as well).
Anyone going to watch “Castle”? Starring Nathan Fillion? I’ll check it out.
Love me some Isla (pronounced kind of like “island”) Fisher but definitely not geekin’.
Supernatural is awesome, watch it Wayne. Will definitely be seeing Friday the 13th and I was a bit traumatized by it, but got over it (get over it Randy, hehe). Danielle Panabaker is good. Amanda Righetti is in it. she’s on The Mentalist (good show ) and played Kirsten’s (Seth’s mom) sister on The OC. I’m there. :)
Can’t wait for the video podcast.
Great comments. I’ll have to break them up for some individual responses a little later. :)
I never have to worry about being able to see digital 3D movies. We have two different Carmike theaters in town, both of which are now entirely digital. That means I have 22 quality digital screens in town, plus a few more digital screens at the other theater chain (but the quality isn’t nearly as good as the Carmike ones). We’ve gotten pretty much every 3D feature for the last few years, even the gimmicky concert ones like U23D, Hannah Montana, and the upcoming Jonas Brothers one. This weekend, we’re even getting “NBA All Star Saturday Night 3D”.
So, if you’ve got a Carmike theater within driving distance, it might be worth checking out. The entire chain is supposed to be digital by now.
Hah. You might re-think that suggestion. We have a Carmike in town. It was brought in a dollar-theater several years back, and has remained that way every since. It’s a dump of a place, and would never even consider digital screens, much less all digital. Though Cinemark has been saying our newest theater is upping their digital screen count by a lot soon. But they’ve been saying that for over 6 months now. I can only imagine it’s an issue of losing the screens during the transition phase, and that may e why they are holding off so far.
But once Cinemark does it, Regal will up theirs to compete, then it won’t be long before they both go that way.
Okay, maybe a *real* Carmike theater…not a dollar-theater imitator. ;)
The two Carmikes we have here are pretty good. On has 12 screens and is a bit more expensive than the 10 screen one across town. Both have really nice DLP projectors that create a really sharp, bright, colorful picture.
Ah Regal- the left-over eater chain of the theater world…
(I used to work for Landmark- we snubbed our art house noses at Regal all the time… whilst facing bankruptcy at every turn, lol)
FYI, Amy Adams was in Enchanted, not Isla Fisher, although they do look rather similar.
Yeah, Isla is the girl from Wedding Crashers, isn’t she? I remembered that after recording.
RE: Push. I was really excited about this movie until I heard about an incident on set where some of the actors had to stop filming to have the plot explained to them because it was too convoluded. That was enough for me there to say . . . ok, I think I’ll wait on this one. Now I’m even less interested.
I can definitely see that. To be honest, I still don’t completely understand the plot. But I think I get it enough to enjoy the movie for what it was. Like I said, the movie involved a lot of time related garbly-gook. If they didn’t try to pull off some of those cliche, “Aha! We told you that it was going to happen this way, and now we are going to show it happen mostly the same….hey look over there!” bits, then I think it would have been a whole different level.
I’ve heard that Jazz does make a comeback in the next Transformers. The silver Pontiac solstice has been seen on set. And I’m thinking Megatron won’t come back as Megatron per-se, but perhaps re-born as Devastator? And has anyone seen the pictures of the concept Corvette that will be used in the film? ::drool::
::blush:: I guess I shoulda finished listening to that segment before posting. :o)
I’m just glad someone else is geeking out over everything like I am. :P
Woo Hoo for Dollhouse!!! I’m actually throwing a party tomorrow for the return of T:SCC and Dollhouse – I can’t wait!
I wish I could come to your party WonderJenn!
I got to go to the Dollhouse panel at Comic-Con last weekend. They showed the first act (really good) and I got to see Joss and Helo from Battlestar there. I’m really excited to see the rest.
Also, OMG- I am so unbelievably fangirl-ed out for Kyle Reese’s appearance in T:SCC.
Me too! When I saw that that scene with Kyle in the trailer I literally jumped off the couch with a squee and a Hells Yeah!
Oh and BTW, jealous! One day I will make it to Comic-Con!
My understanding of the term “jump the shark” has to do with when a television series peaks and, with subsequent episodes, begins to go down hill. For your information Buffy and Angel never jumped the shark meaning neither series had peaked.
That may be what some people take it to mean, but that’s not what the term actually means:
“Jumping the shark is a colloquialism used by TV critics and fans to denote that point in a TV show or movie series’ history where the plot veers off into absurd story lines or out-of-the-ordinary characterizations, particularly for a show with falling ratings apparently becoming more desperate to draw viewers in.”
…
“The phrase refers to a scene in a three-part episode of the American TV series Happy Days, first broadcast on September 20, 1977. In the third of the three parts of the “Hollywood” episode, Fonzie (Henry Winkler), wearing swim trunks and his trademark leather jacket, jumps over a penned-in shark while water skiing. This was particularly ironic, in that Fonzie, famous for being a biker, had previously jumped his motorcycle for a publicity-stunt—but was severely injured in the process, and very remorseful for his actions; he then learned a valuable lesson, and delivered a moral message, that taking foolish risks “isn’t cool” (a clearly role-model message against popular 1970s trends of youths imitating “daredevil” stuntmen like Evel Knievel or Ernie Devlin). In contrast, Fonzie’s later decision to take an even greater risk on water skis “to prove a point,” came across as absurd in many ways (particularly since the “motorcycle jump” episode was a major point in Fonzie’s character development).”
The term can often be used on a show when it has passed it’s peak, but that is generally the reason for the veer in plot, not an actual requirement.

Good episode, but I’ll never be current if they are so long – LOL.
Thanks for the jumping the shark update, SaberJ. The term did not originate as a rating ploy, but as a major break in the continuity / character of the show as a means to reinvigorate a show gone stale. The formerly realistic (albeit over-the-top) Fonzie suddenly gaining the abnormal strength to wrestle a shark without physical consequences is the prime example. There are web pages devoted to JtS examples.
A related ploy is the “Cousin Oliver” effect. Where a young character is introduced to a gone-stale show whose formerly young stars have grown to old to fall into the childish situations that served as many of the shows storylines. I think the term comes from a Brady Bunch cast addition, but the first major earlier example was in My Three Sons, where a young stepdaughter was brought in after the three sons all grew up and got married. Some consider Dawn to be a Cousin Oliver.
I also have my own blog I just find it hard to write quality content like this.
I guess I really don’t have the time. anyways the Jonas Brothers Rock!
I do believe diferrent because my family use another trade name. It’s secure and i love it’s very much. But next 3D Products I may think of this as 3D stuffs that you just present.Grate!!!
