Then, Yorick Brown's long journey through an Earth populated only by women comes to its dramatic, unexpected conclusion.
I am in the middle of your discussion of Chuck, and I wanted to add my two cents on it. I think this season has been excellent. Chuck’s new “action hero” ability has allowed for some interesting situations and developments. I also really like the shakeups that have been caused by the addition of Brandon Routh’s character into the mix. The last few episodes have been amazing–balancing the comedy, drama, and action perfectly.
Also, the current season of 24 is Day 8, not 7. I still really enjoy the show, but it is well past its prime and its cancellation isn’t really a surprise. The first few seasons were packed with new ideas and shocking twists, but now it has become repetitive and predictable in its plot lines. It is time to let Jack Bauer retire.
Thinking back on it, 24 has had a huge bodycount for major characters. In fact, I’m kind of surprised that Chloe hasn’t died yet since she’s been around since season three. Perhaps it has something to do with the character being almost as popular as Jack. I guess there’s still time for her to get killed by the end of this season…
The original Clash of the Titans is classic and cheesy as hell. Part of its charm lies in the stop motion special effects. I’m still not convinced that remaking the movie with CGI effects will work properly with a similar goofy tone, but I’m not sure that a serious take on Clash of the Titans would be that good either. I may or may not see it in theaters, but I am not seeing it in 3D if I do. Last minute scrambling to cash in on the recent success of 3D does not result in a quality 3D product.
Scott, just to let you know Castle has been picked up for a 22 episode third season. Plus if you didn’t know they actually released the novel Heat Wave and they are planning on releasing more novels connected to the show including the original novels the character was famous for on the show.
As far is ratings for Castle they started out decent at the begining of the season but have been steadily increasing through the season. The two part episode they just did I believe ranked at like 14 mil. viewers. That is it’s highest ratings to date. This is such a well written show and more people need to start watching it.
What other songs from Cabaret have Glee done? And I assure you, they did the biggest number from Wicked.
Defying Gravity may be the biggest number from Wicked, but the one I’ve heard the most is Popular. It’s also the perfect Glee song, IMO. Still, their version of Defying Gravity was absolutely phenomenal.
I think “Maybe This Time” was the only Cabaret song they’ve done. But I’m pretty sure that they keep bringing it up.
Really? I had to look up “Popular” on YouTube because I had never heard it. I’ve heard “Defying Gravity” a ton of times.
Which one was in Glee? I still need to start watching the show.
Wait…nevermind. I re-read your post and realized I didn’t read it correctly the first time. So “Defying Gravity” was on Glee already. After listening to Popular on YouTube, I also think it could be a perfect fit for Glee.
Aha, I knew I had heard of them doing another Cabaret song. They were supposed to be doing “Money, Money”, but it either got cut or postponed.

***Yeah, I’m with Scott on “Glee”. Kristen Chenowith’s singing was amazing. Thematically, she was also wonderful. In the end, after she left the group, the other kids finally got to work as a group equally and did “Someone to Love” which was phenomenal.
***I read on another news source that Amanda Waller in the “Green Lantern” movie would function as she does currently in the comics with the Suicide Squad. A team of villains forced to work for the government. So she might actually recruit the Hector Hammond villain at the end of the movie.
****Scott, you’re the comics guru. What happened to “The Runaways” comic?? Is it completely canceled? I followed all the digests and have heard nothing about it. Marvel has never said anything either way…..Would kill for a good movie version.
I absolutely couldn’t stand Kristen Chenowith’s role on the show. But she did a good job with the two songs that wasn’t Last Name. A bit of Randy Trivia here. Last Name is actually the only Glee song that I skip when playing through the entire play list. And I don’t even dislike the original version as much as I dislike that version. Kristen just added way too much country flare to it. Couldn’t stand it.
Alone is the one I enjoy from her the most, but that may also be because she finally got Shue to do something besides creepy white guy rap/hip-hop. Then Maybe This Time was pretty cool too. Still, not a huge fan of Cabaret, so it wasn’t enough to make me love that performance.
Sometime after the first season is over, I’m going to have to come up with a top 10 favorite songs list. I know “True Colors”, “Defying Gravity”, “Somebody to Love”, “Dancing with Myself”, “Sweet Caroline”, “Don’t Stop Believin’”, and the “Imagine” are amongst my favorites currently. Still, the second half of the season is going to make it incredibly difficult to make a top ten list.
Yup. Chenowith rules. Randy’s just crazy :P
If that’s Amanda Waller’s role, I’m all for it. Kind of a reverse Nick Fury, I really dig that a lot. Awesome.
The Runaways’ sales quickly dropped off after Joss Whedon’s arc ended. And rightfully so unfortunately. The book took a major dip in quality, first with Whedon’s unfortunately lackluster arc, and then again with the 3 creative teams that followed. No one could come up with a compelling story to tell.
So Marvel has canceled the book for the time being, but Joe Q has said that they’ll jump at the chance to publish it again as soon as a creative team comes to him with a really great take on the book and characters. And honestly? As much as I miss The Runaways, I’m okay with that. I’d much rather there be no Runaways book, then a lackluster one that sullies the memory of BKV’s original run.
Never mind the fact that you admitted to being biased when it comes to her. ;)
Scott, Randy, anybody else….have you seen How to Train Your Dragon yet?
I saw it yesterday, and I really liked it. I saw the movie in 2D, but I could see how some of the flight scenes would look cool with the extra dimension (they were still very thrilling in 2D). I really liked the climactic action scene of the movie, and Toothless was a great character. I also liked all the different varieties of dragons that were in the movie, especially the one that sets itself on fire. Another geeky highlight for me was the “D&D” kid. His lines always made me laugh.
I saw it on Tuesday. It was pretty fantastic. A little slow to start off with, but it definitely paid off in the end. Loved Astrid, so I was a bit surprised to find out she was voiced by America Ferrera. We saw it in 3d, which was cool, but I think the Avatar comparisons are a little bit of overhype. Once again though, I found the ashfall to be the most impressive 3d effect. :)
I loved Astrid, too! I think she had some of the best facial animation out of all the characters, except perhaps for Toothless. The whole movie, I thought the voice kind of sounded familiar, but when I looked it up later, I was rather surprised to find out it was America Ferrera. That wasn’t who I was expecting at all. I’ve never really seen anything she’s been in, so you couldn’t say that I am familiar with her voice.
I saw it today (in IMAX 3D, oddly enough my cheapest option), I thought it was brilliant, my personal favourite Dreamworks animation so far. I thought the animation was absolutely stunning. It was also the best use of 3D I’ve seen, it worked really well. The voice acting was fantastic, the plot was great fun and it was full of heart. The only thing I can complain about was the ending tragedy… talk about really glazing over it, it happened and then a minute later the film ended, not really enough time to consider what happened.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World trailer will be the coolest movie of 2010
I think that perhaps the entire movie might be better than just the trailer. ;)
I was curious about that too.
oh LOL yeah that what I meant sorry
I think Lost finale is going to be a great event. A few friends and I are trying to locate a good bar somewhere to watch it. I can’t wait.
I HAVE to go to the Harry Potter thing.
I don’t know anything about Walking Dead, so maybe he’s not right for the part but I really like Johny Lee Miller.
I have to go for the Butterbeer, if nothing else. The reviews make it sound extremely tasty.
I agree. I really want to try the Butterbeer and Pumpkin Juice.
I’m hoping for fire whiskey personally. :P
