Finally getting around to listening to this episode. Just wanted to comment on the Comic strips made into movies. I could be biased just because I love this comic strip but I would love them to make a live action or even animated movie on the comic strip Get Fuzzy.

Or they could, I dunno, be making it an English version that doesn't require dubs or subtitles. There are a lot of people that won't see movies that are subtitled. I like subbed Anime, so I'm not personally one of them. But I understand the sentiment. Making an English language version would definitely be more easily accessible to a wider audience without making a Twilight wanna be or something similar.

Simon Oakes, the producer of the "let the right one in" remake said that they will make the movie "very accessible to a wider audience". I've heard enough, I'm not going to see it. I expect a pg teen movie.

Doing a bit of research on Little Fockers, I see that now. Huh. Literally the last thing I read on the topic was that Jay Roach wouldn't come back for another sequel and they were having trouble convincing Dustin Hoffman to return as well. Now I see they've replaced Roach and moved on w/o Hoffman. That actually depresses me. I'm not excited at all for this sequel now...

As far as Jonah Hill's character in Get Him To The Greek... how could he not be?? It's set in the same world. Unless he's playing that character's identical twin, that's just dumb. I really really hate that.

Still going to go see the movie though...

Yeah, I knew Goddard wrote Cloverfield... if I'd thought about it for more than a split second I would have remembered. Don't know what I was thinking. I guess since Reeves is writing/directing Let Me In, my brain just assumed he did the same with Cloverfield without much thought.

When did we bring up Tom Cavanaugh? I totally wouldn't have ever recognized his name, so I'm sure he was in one of the many films we mentioned, but I don't know which one.

As far as my 3 movies of shame... everyone has those movies they've never gotten around to seeing. So don't go giving me a hard time people. I'll get to them eventually, but here's why I never watched them:

Jaws - it's about a SHARK. Regardless of how good it is, I just couldn't possibly care less. The only reason I even want to see it at all is because its old school Spielberg. That is literally the only reason. If I end up liking it, great, but that's why I've never seen it. Simple apathy. And don't try to convince me of its merrits, many have tried, zero have succeeded. So there's no point. I'll get to it eventually. I'm just not in a hurry.

Blade Runner - My dad made me watch it after seeing Star Wars for the first time when I was 8. Not exactly an entertaining movie for an 8 year old. I've always had a grudge against it since then. Not a real one mind you, just in the back of the subconciousy part of my head its been filed in the "boring" category. I'm well aware of how ridiculous that is. And I'm going to rectify it soon. "The Final Cut" is on Netflix streaming, so its on my 360 waiting to be watched.

Tron - This I have no excuse for. Just slipped through my fingers. I don't think my dad really cares for it, and that might be the reason. Not sure. Definitely going to watch it before TR2N is released.

I agree. Scott especially needs to see Jaws. It is probably the most up his alley. However, Tron and Blade Runner also need to be seen. He may not end up liking them, but all three movies deserve to be seen at least once.

Could it have been better with another actor....possibly. I actually think that Brendan Fraser is quite excellent in the Mummy movies, and I'm not sure that anyone else would be that much better. To me, somebody else in the role would just be different, not necessarily an improvement.

Scott, I'm disappointed in you, sir. Drew Goddard wrote Cloverfield. He's co-writing Cabin In The Woods with Joss Whedon and also Directing. He's also written for Lost, Alias, Angel and Buffy.

Also, Tom Cavanaugh was JD's brother on Scrubs. He's also Eli's Dad in Eli Stone.

You haven't seen Jaws, Tron or Blade Runner? Dude. Go now. :)

Also, I think that "The Last Airbender" might have been helped by the loss of the Avatar, it makes it seem more original, most of my friends hate the look of the cartoon but one of them came to me the other day saying that this last airbender film looks cool, I think it could bring in a new crowd who might not have been interested before.

Just because he didn't do bad doesn't mean he wasn't a weak point. It's definitely one of his better performances. However, I think that the best selling point for that movie was the story itself, so I'm convinced that it could have been even better with a stronger actor. With that said, yeah, he wasn't horrible in the movie.

Moving right along....I'm enjoying your rundown of the 2010 movie schedule so far. I just wanted to post a bit about the PoP movie.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time looks to have virtually nothing in common with the game's plot, based on the trailer. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. The game's plot is actually really good as far as games go, but it is a bit thin on details (and the climax is severely lacking) to be directly adapted into a movie. I think the trailer for the PoP movie looks fun, but I'm not holding out too much hope for it being great.

Also, Brendan Fraser cannot be mentioned as a weak point of the Mummy movies, especially the first one. He is the best thing about those movies, next to Rachel Weisz. There certainly many examples of bad Brendan Fraser performances out there. The Mummy isn't one of them. He fits perfectly into the "campy adventure" tone of the movie.

Moving right along….I’m enjoying your rundown of the 2010 movie schedule so far. I just wanted to post a bit about the PoP movie.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time looks to have virtually nothing in common with the game’s plot, based on the trailer. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The game’s plot is actually really good as far as games go, but it is a bit thin on details (and the climax is severely lacking) to be directly adapted into a movie. I think the trailer for the PoP movie looks fun, but I’m not holding out too much hope for it being great.

I'm with Scott on really wanting to see Jackie Earle Haley in Nightmare on Elm Street. I think he could do an awesome job as Freddy.

On a side note, Jackie Earle Haley is awesome in Human Target, a new show on Fox. The show itself is pretty fun so far, if a bit formulaic. All of the main characters are interesting, but Jackie Earle Haley is the most fun to watch, at least to me.
