Great podcast guys. Like RickyC I am surprised you guys didn't even bring up Harry Potter. I think that would be considered more of a summer blockbuster than Bruno.

Is Harry Potter mentioned in this? I had to skip ahead and couldnt find anything. Salvation was a disappointment but i wasn't expecting anything after 3. I should of watched Star Trek since i've not found one person hating it.

I really liked T:SCC as well. I mean, it had its problems for sure but it was still a lot more interesting than T4 ended up being.

And I totally agree: the soundtrack was awesome. I am as much in love with McCreary's arrangement of 'Samson and Delilah" sung by Shirley Manson as I am with his arrangement of "Along the Watchtower" for Battlestar.

It was a really weird summermovieseason.
We saw the best of hollywood but also the worst.
Transformers 2 was the biggest sign of the approaching
moviepocalypse (see the movie preview critic on youtube).
Great show, can't wait for some of the other podcasts to return. Keep up the good work I'm a big fan.

@'I never got the impression that anything John did was special enough to die for with such conviction and so willingly.'

I agree. I had the same conversation with friend. My hope is that since its supposed to be a trilogy they will sort this out by the end. I'm crossing my fingers because I love the series.

I prefer the 2nd Terminator film over the 1st, but it's really just a matter of personal taste. I think they are both fantastic examples of their own genres. I feel like T2 is an action-adventure film, whereas Terminator is more of a horror film, when you really think about it. I enjoyed most of the third film simply because I thought Jonathan Mostow handled the action quite well. The only thing that kind of ruins it for me is the end, which is somewhat of an unnecessary downer that negates the underlying theme of the franchise which states, "The future's not set. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves." Instead, (Spoilers ahead for T3!) the film tells us, "This stuff is going to happen no matter what, so you're dammed if you do, damned if you don't. Suck it!"

I was never bored by T4, but the biggest problems with the film were the glaring plot-holes throughout. Things like, "How would Skynet even know who John Connor or Kyle Reese were at this point, since neither one of them have done anything yet to be considered a significant threat to the machines? Also, since Skynet does seem to somehow know this stuff already, why do they not kill Kyle immediately, instead of holding him prisoner?" But, I digress.

Personally, I was surprised at how much I ended up really enjoying the television series, which I hope you guys will discuss if and when you talk about the Terminator franchise again. Dragging plot lines and too much separate, meandering pontifications aside, I found the show to be a worthy companion piece to what James Cameron was trying to do. It managed to delve deeper into the characters to a level that had not been possible before, and gave us solid performances from both Summer Glau and Brian Austin Green, specifically. Not to mention, Bear McCreary's score was often haunting, beautiful and intense, right up there for me with Brad Fiedel's original compositions.

Great show. You guys all have good chemistry together and I'm definitely looking forward to hearing more. The only thing was the volume seemed really low. I had to have my car stereo turned up almost all the way to hear you clearly. That, and Lindsey needs to talk a bit more haha.

First, open iTunes. (I also switched over to the podcast section of my iTunes window, but I'm not sure if that's necessary.)

Next, go to the following link in your web browser: http://www.geekshow.us/category/content/podcasts/fandomonium/

Then, make sure that you can see both iTunes and the web browser at the same time.

At the top of the page I sent you to, there is the word "Subscribe" near the top with a small orange square next to it. Point at the word or the logo. Then click and drag it over the top of your iTunes window.

If you did it right, iTunes will subscribe to the Fandomonium podcast.

You voiced my opinion on Terminator perfectly Scott. I think I've mentioned quite a few times what a huge fan of the films I am. I consider the first one to be my favorite movie of all time (I completely agree, the first one is the superior movie- much scarier and the plot was so much more tight and succinct and it had none of the cheese factor that occasionally dropped into T2. Not that I hated T2 but it just wasn't as good as the first for me).

Salvation should have been a father and son flick at the core of it with the twist being that the "son" was the grown man and the "father" the teen and only John knew why Kyle was so important. It should have been about John and Kyle and how Kyle got to the point of volunteering for the mission to go back and time and WHY he says in the first movie "I'd die for John Connor." I never got the impression that anything John did was special enough to die for with such conviction and so willingly.

I, too, am completely loving on Yelchin. He's gonna be in an adaptation of a YA book I really enjoyed called "Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac" and am now really excited for it.

Also, of note, the coat Kyle gets at the end wasn't supposed to be the green rain coat from the first movie just the army jacket of the resistance. Of note, deleted from the ending was him reaching inside the pocket and finding the picture of Sarah which when I found out had me fuming.

ANYWAYS... awesome to have Ben and Scott back and with more people to boot. The show was great and I liked the format and am eagerly awaiting the next episode.

Jack, I presume you've never seen the holy trilogy of Bale films of the early 90's to get you indoctrinated to the cult of Bale: Newsies, Little Women, and Swing Kids.

He had me at the age of 10.

It's when you guys start doing impressions of Englishmen for Christian Bale. I've gotta say Christian Bale is becoming one of my least favourite actors, I don't even like him in Batman, the one time I've actually been impressed with his acting chops was in American Psycho, a role in which (essentially) Jimmy Van Der Beek did as good a job. I don't get where all the respect for Bateman comes from, seems like a douche to me.

Excellent show guys (and ladies), even better than Two Geeks. I laughed out loud several time during this episode.

And Scott, it's great to hear someone else who hated Borat.

Please keep up the cursing. :) I like the frank, candid talk.

I think it is very hypocritical that you guy talk about how you dropped the word geek because it has baggage attached to it. Mentioning opinion being wrong in geekdom. Then I have to listen to 20 minutes of being told basically if you don't like it then fuck off. You claim that there will always be fan boys that will look for reasons not to like it. When you are such fan boys of this you ignore plot holes and obvious time paradoxes that will occur. If J.J. wanted to do a reboot then he should have done a reboot and skipped the one line fix where they mention alternate universes. I have never left a neggative comment on a podcast before but that is because I have never felt so attacked for not liking something. I know you will never be able to keep everybody who listens happy. But maybe you should be more careful in the future not to make people feel like assholes for not liking what you like.

So far, it looks like I skipped the right movies this summer. I'm currently in the middle of the Terminator discussion.

WC? I forget what you're talking about. This was seriously recorded almost a month ago in an effort to get a few episodes recorded before Kevin had to go back to school in Georgia.

I was most looking forward to you guys discussing District 9 and Inglourious Basterdz. So I was a bit disappointed.

I guess this was recorded a while ago?

I just thought it was amusing that everyone started calling them "solar flares" and thought nothing of it.

Haha probably. I just kept thinking of that scene on the bridge that opened the movie. Where you follow the Captain onto the bridge and that sun is on the screen. That's the first lens flare I noticed in the movie, so that's what I think of whenever people talked about them in the movie. Probably why I called them solar flares. Oops. Oh well.
