Regarding your comment on the Daleks, I can’t speak to the thinking behind their design, but they were a huge hit from their very first appearance. There was “Dalekmania” in 1964 in Britain. The Daleks appeared in the second serial of the program, so they were actually DW’s first “monsters,” and the primary reason for the show switching from the original educational concept to a “fighting space monsters” format. If it weren’t for the amazing popularity of the Daleks, Doctor Who probably wouldn’t have been as successful as it was.
Love the show , and I still think a good topic would be , Best DR.Who Bad Guy
But I know you guys have plans already for the next few shows .
BY the way I heard They will re-do some of the missing eps as cartoon. But I dont know if that true or not.
Keep up the good work .
Love the show keep up the good work , PS Tom Baker is my fav Doctor
Good episode….you guys mentioned Tom Baker being popular because he was a the ball of energy. But he had this real bumbling professor zaniness to him that was also so funny.
So…….since the episodes are so hard to find, I thought I might post this Youtube video I found. It show the regenerations from the three Doctors you mentioned. (With some annotations.)

Tom Baker is the best, you just need to watch a few more of his episodes and you will be convinced (he’s not the most well known for nothing ;) ). Still. it’s difficult to compare Baker to Tennant as they are from two completely different eras. Tom was the best for the 60’s-90s era. Tennant is the best of recent…time will tell who has the staying power. Love the show guys, I started watching Dr Who in the 70’s and a lot of your discussions bring back memories of watching the shows first time around…Peri, Peri, Peri…. did I mention I like Peri…
Just a few comments.
I grew up watching Tom Baker’s 4th Doctor (Robot was actually the first Who serial I ever saw), so this was an interesting podcast for me. Particularly because it means I get to see how Randy’s opinions of older Who have changed over the years (he’s my brother). I may also be who he is thinking of when he was asking if it was Tom Baker that was Scott’s favorite.
I agree with Scott’s opinions of Sarah Jane Smith … I’ve had a crush on her longer than Randy has been alive. :) She’s always been my favorite companion.
“The guy that got choked by Vader” that Randy was referring to here is not the guy in the conference room in Star Wars, but Admiral Ozzel from Empire (Michael Sheard). The actor appeared in Pyramids of Mars and Castrovalva, Remembrance of the Daleks, The Ark, Mind of Evil, The Invisible Enemy, and the Stones of Venice which covers the runs of most of the classic Doctors, I think.
