Partway through the podcast now…
You guys mentioned how you got an Indiana Jones vibe during the first scene in the “Underhenge”. I am curious if you got that feeling before or after watching the Doctor Who Confidential episode that mentions this exact thing. They actually played music from Raiders of the Lost Ark on set while filming it. The Confidential actually played some of that scene with the Raiders music, and it fit perfectly.
It’s not a difficult conclusion to reach, give that both cases involves archeology of sorts. Scott is the one that said that, so I’ll let him answer that. However, anytime I get an idea from the confidential, I try to mention that. It’s like in The Beast Below, I really got the impression of a fairy tale before I heard it in the confidential.
I wasn’t saying it was difficult or anything. Just curious.
I LOVED this episode. There were just so many great moments in it. The reveal at the end of what the Pandorica is for totally took me by surprise. They have done such a good job of setting up the expectation of something being inside of it that I never even thought of what it actually turned out to be. But the Pandorica’s actual purpose couldn’t have been more perfect once I got to it. The intercutting during the ending of this episode was a great way to tie all of the events together as everything went downhill.
I can’t wait to see how they tie things up in the second part. I’ll come back when I’m finished listening to see if my theory for the next episode lines up with what you guys think.
Okay, nevermind on my theory here then (even though it’s even less thought out than what you guys said in the podcast). I’ll email to you guys instead then. :)
This episode almost made cry of happiness. Specially at how The Doctor reacted when he faced being seal in the Pandorica and by no less than all his greatest enemies. I felt as if he was happy to see them all come together for one sole purpose. Which was ironically his demise and from their perspective the “salvation” of the universe.
I think I am ok with the Cyberman coming back, they might nor being from our universe by the Crack in Time is something so big maybe it was a Crack in between realities too.
Regarding my thoughts on the series finale I will promptly write and e-mail :D
Thanks for the awesome podcast you guys :D
Even though I think Matt Smith is brilliant and brings so much to the character of the Doctor, up until now I’ve still really missed Tennant. That’s over! Smith totally proved himself with the phenomenal delivery of the speech at Stonehenge. It gave me chills, it was so good. What a winner!
I know.. that speech was so moving.. I even rewound it a couple times. Can’t wait!
Interesting bit from Moffat: “Steven Moffat says the finale is the best episode he’s ever written, and fans won’t be disappointed.”
That’s some high praise if it’s true.
I certainly hope it’s true.
*fingers crossed*
big fan of this episode guys and of the shows episode as well. I just rewatched the end of flesh and stone and listened to what river said and I think I got a pretty good Idea whats going to happen but i’ll keep theories to myself till after it airs wouldn’t want to be right and ruin it for anybody
