I had never seen Time Crash before this. I found it to be an amusing little bridge between the finale and Christmas special for that year. You can tell that the whole reason for doing it was for the opportunity to gush over Peter Davison.
And now on to Blink. Blink is my favorite Moffat-written episode of Doctor Who. Girl in the Fireplace almost ties with it, but I absolutely love the circular nature of Blink’s plot, so it gets the edge at the finish line for me. I also like Blink because there are more great characters in it than the other Moffat episodes. In fact, there isn’t a single character in this episode that isn’t amazing in some way, no matter how much screen time they get. The script and the actors make the most of every moment, and the episode is made better because of it.
Excellent way of putting it. That’s pretty much verbatim with how I feel.
My favorite little bit in “Time Crash” is the solution Moffat creates for preventing the explosion. Tennant uses a Black Hole to negate the Super Nova. How did Tennant know to do this?………Because he remembered seeing himself doing it when he was Davidson. Or as both Doctors say in unison, “Timey Wimey stuff.” hahaha Great moment and a very fun bit of time paradox logic.
I love blink best line on dr.who it’s like a timey wimey.
and the doctor wasnt even in most of it .
would it be cool if this put a real easter egg in the season 3 DVDs
Here’s a question, what’s your favourite non Moffat episode?
Personally mine would be the two parter of The Family of Blood and Human Nature.
Funny you should say those are your favorite non-Moffat eps, as my favorite is “Father’s Day”.
Long live Paul Cornell. Fantastic writer, and the nicest guy :)
Wow you got me stumped, I read it and my mind went blank.
I think the two parter of the impossible planet and the satan pit will be up there though. The intro of the Ood, the diferant characters, the gun that looked extreamly similar to the one in dead space, and seeing the doctor face off againt the devil.
Im sure there was episodes I have liked more that had better dialog, but right now this one sticks out.
God blink blew me away with how well written it was and how (almost) everything worked together so well. This was probly one of the most intence I was while watching the show, and its one of the episodes I use to get people who might not usually watch, to sit down and give it a shot.
On a side note, a friend of mine did the “pants” thing once after I showed him……I thought it was so funny I forgave him for being inexplainably pantless in my kitchen.
Time crash charmed me, something about it gave me that warm fuzzy feeling, wich was needed after having to say goodbye to martha (my favourate if the 3 main companions). The whole speach about how much he loved being him felt so incredibly heartfelt and honest, and the way they said goodbye to eachther…perfect.
