Been a while since I've saw a new comment. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you enjoy the show(s) (Angel Investigations is generally considered the better of the two).

You are possibly right. Though, a professional cheerleader doesn't always equate directly with being able to do stunt work and such.

Hi guys -
Just found your podcast online and just finished listening to your Season 1 comments. I do disagree with you on one point - you stated that Cordelia probably wouldn't have been a good Buffy because she wouldn't have been able to pull off the physical stuff as well. Didn't you know that Cordelia was a professional cheerleader? She was way more athletic and physical than SMG was, that's for sure. I think that acting-wise she wouldn't have been able to pull it off at all, though. Some of her scenes, especially early on, could be very difficult to watch because of her acting, IMO.

Hey,
Ok I am a die-hard Buffy fanatic I watched the show from the very first airing of "Welcome to the Hellmouth" to "chosen". I'm new to the podcast. Just listening to the first season. For the most part I totally agree with you guys. However, I think you guys overlooked one of the key parts of "teacher's pet" all in all the episode sucked. But.... ANgel makes his "mysterious guest appearance" in the beginning and end of the episode and gives buffy his jacket. These few seconds served to show that the two were developing a relationship.
Second - "Angel". I don't believe Buffy had any idea Angel was a vampire; she was completely shocked, disappointed, and hurt by that revelation. Later when she makes the decision not to kill him and decides that she can trust him: I think that mostly had to do with their connection, and her personal intuition, not necessarily her slayer instincts. In the first season her slayer instincts were kinda weak, but has the years passed we got to see her grow and develop and her instincts became much stronger: kinda like a well used muscle.

I'm listening to your Season 1 podcast...

The reason why tv shows "back in the day" were so standalone and now are not has to do with syndicating. Part of the deal with getting a show into syndication is the buying network's desire to have the ability to air the shows in any order that they want. With shows that have story arcs that span multiple episodes, this is harder to do (at least from the buying network's point of view).

I do think that the concept of "average viewer" has matured over the last few decades and want more complex story arcs that end up resulting in multiple episodes containing mulitple arcs.

Great show, look forward to hearing future episodes.

I just finished Buffy Buffcast Season 2. All I have to say is amazing. The only thing that was missing was Xander's lying and betrayal in the second part of the last episode of Season 2. Willow had told him to go tell Buffy that she was going to try the spell again and instead he tells Buffy that Willow said kill him for me. I think that started the tension between Buffy and Xander that followed in future seasons, especially the 6th. Besides that, you guys are amazing. Take as long as you like making them because you're brillant.
