I have to say that I'm surprised at this news. With all the bad press Wolverine and terrible fan reviews, I'm surprised that FOX will throw more money at it. Jackman has always said he was a fan of the character, maybe FOX will listen to the outcry and actually follow one of the comic's story lines and not screw with all the characters. How many times are they going to screw stuff up?

I too have heard good things about the DEADPOOL movie, but with Ryan Rynolds signing on as the Green Lantern, I'm surprised he is still involved with DeadPool..though he did say that was his pet project and he wants to make it as true to the comic as possible. A nice thing to hear...if it happens.

I know what you mean, Dave. I saw it with a friend and his grandfather. The movie was fine, in terms of holding my interest. It didn't really affect me either way, actually. But I suppose you could say I was entertained. I think the consensus emotion with folks seems to be anger. I remember not feeling one way or the other about it. In terms of the script, it felt very thrown together and derivative, particularly when somebody slipped into the projection booth and put in a bunch of frames from Superman. :)

What kind of surprised me was how poorly made the movie was on a technical level. So much of it was raw and unfinished, as if they weren't able to complete the post production in time to meet their release date. But, a deal is a deal, so they just put it out there, which is a real shame too, since the opening credits at least looked rather nice, creative and polished.

I guess I just shrugged at the movie for a couple of reasons. 1) The older I get, the more mellow I become and the less likely I am to be over-emotional about something in either direction. Don't get me wrong, a good movie still has the power to move me, but an average (or below average) film just makes me feel well, average. 2) I didn't have anything really riding on this, since I've more or less already seen some pretty decent Wolverine adventures, thanks to the previous X-Men films.

Still, this next picture could turn out to be very interesting. Who knows? If all goes well, we could get another Spidey 2 on our hands, where a good writer comes in and ups the quality of the material in their own way. I'm keeping positive for all involved.

@ There was no way Wolverine was ever going to be an award winning masterpiece.

See. I object to this attitude. There have been great Star Wars movies, Indiana Jones movies, Batman movies, Spider-man movies, great X-men movies. Why wouldn't you demand a great Wolverine movie?

And then you turn around and want the sequel to be better. Which is understandable. But from the studio / producer perspective what's the motivation to do that if people are just gonna shrug and accept it anyways.

It's like when the Trannies fans all complained that Trannies 2 didn't improve on anything . Of course they didn't improve the film that most people raved about and claimed was great.
It's like what people say about government. You get the type of government you demand.

The Trannies mantra; it's good enough. it's not supposed to be great. it doesn't need to have good characters. lookit all the money it made; is ruining cinema.

I guess I am in the minority that I actually enjoyed the Wolverine movie. I not going to sit here and say it was the best movie of the summer or that it was in anyway a perfect movie. There were things I didn't like about it but overall it entertained me which is what I was hoping for. There was no way Wolverine was ever going to be an award winning masterpiece.

As for the next film, I am excited to see if it ends up being better that the first. The story line that they are going with is a good one as long as they don't mess with continuity to which is one of the things they did wrong in the first one. Mainly with Deadpool.

Now the stuff I have been hearing about a Deadpool movie sounds great.

To clarify, Fox the studio is not the same as Fox the network, so the studio has nothing to do with a television show being canceled. That's a network issue. Although, I understand your complaint. Unfortunately, the studio won't let this go anytime soon for two reasons: 1. Wolverine, even after being leaked early (or possibly because of it) still made a ton of money for Fox, proving that Logan's adventures were still relevant (read: bankable), so they'll continue as long as there's money in it for them. 2. In order to maintain the movie rights to the X-Men franchise and its characters, Fox has to make an X-Men movie every 2 or 3 years. This is also why the name "X-Men" appeared in the title of the Wolverine film, even though the actual "team" does not exist/appear in the film.

@ Didn’t the leather jacket come from the son of the guy with the motorcycle in the barn?

Right, as explained in Wolverine. That was the mystery left hanging from the x-men movies.

@And I’m pretty sure the hairstyle is a just a bad cowlick.

Nope. It's a compelling story arc.

I really want one of these movies to be good. I do intend to give this a fair chance but in reality a strong wind could kill my excitement for this movie. Hopefully people won't say it's a bad till after it comes out at least.

Also, to the Belgian Geek: you know there has been a Magneto X-Men Origins movie planned for some time, right?

Please let this die, Fox. Don't you have shows to cancel? Just please, let it go. I have no idea how the franchise could've gotten worse after Ratner, but Wolverine Origins did (Buraka Deadpool? Seriously?). Fox, you tried to resuscitate. It's gone. For reals this time. Stop it.

Now about that Spider-man franchise...

I never understood why they made a wolverine spin off, the first 2 movies were practically just about him, the second movie even explained his origin. Why not go into some of the other characters like storm, magneto or mystique instead of making a sequel to a bad unnecessary spin off about a character were tired of.

This news has me very excited! Christopher McQuarrie also wrote and directed The Way Of The Gun, which I think is a very smart, well-crafted action-drama. For that alone, I will definitely check this out!
