Veronica Mars: The Movie
Friday, September 5th, 2008
Joel Silver is reportedly producing a Veronica Mars film over at Warner Bros. that will be written by series mastermind Rob Thomas with Veronica herself Kristin Bell already attached.
That’s great news, right? Want some even better news?
The film won’t be taking it’s cue from the unsuccessful season 4 pilot pitch that saw Mars joining the FBI. Instead, it’ll be set a few months after the events of Season 3 – with the spunky private investigator still in college.
“The FBI scenario was more of a ‘What if…?’ aimed at getting us a fourth season [before the show was canceled],” says Rob Thomas. “I would want to bring back our key players, and it would be tough to believe that the FBI stationed Veronica in Neptune.”

Geekgasm. Thats all i can say about this. yes yes yes yes yes
Forgetting Logan Echolls
I hope it works out. I would love to see more Veronica Mars. :D
On a side note, I recently played through most of Assassin’s Creed before noticing that Kristen Bell was in the game.
Bah I hated Veronica Mars… nah I’m just kidding, I freaking loved it but wow, what’s with all the old TV Shows getting movies? Whedon seems to have started a trend and Sex and the City proved the trend could turn a profit.
This begs the question… when is the Wonderfalls movie?
In our dreams Soctt…in our dreams…
The Wonderfalls movie is in production, it is entitled “Lee on Lee”, both Lee Places characters meet and swap place, hilarity ensues.
I believe the appropriate phrase is “w00t!”
I wished Mandy Patankin would’ve done the Dead Like Me movie.. which probably won’t see the light of day.. I still need to watch Wonderfalls… man.. I’m behind on everything… I love V-Mars and would love to see this movie.
SQUEE if this is true
I just read an interview with Rob Thomas saying this wasn’t happening, so I’m surprised to say the least.
YEAH if this actually happens I believe that there just might be a god
I’m so excited about this. I think they could make a really great movie with all the twists and turns that were present in an episode of the TV show.
The Dead Like Me movie is shot I believe. I tink it’ll be released early next year, but think it’s str8 to DVD.
Does anyone know when the straight to dvd movie for Dead Like Me is ever coming out?
Early 2009.
Count me among those who would be ecstatic if Rob Marshall with the participation of Kristen Bell and most of the regulars (particularly Jason D.) make a Veronica Mars movie happen. A couple of points: (1) focusing on the drop off in quality during the shows third and last season: (a) Rob and the rest of the writers, etc. were under the stress of regularly hearing that it was very unlikely the show would be granted a fourth season and (2) it’s much harder to churn out a weekly show than to script a hundred minute movie. In other words, the likelihood that the writing staff could turn out the witty and wise dialog that made VM special would be maximized.
Anyone who was involved with VM know that the fans would work hard to make the movie a success. And, as a movie, rather than a small network show, VM would be a must easier sale. Give us VM fans a chance to show that the producers of such a movie will never regret having made this happen.
I like to watch Veronica Mars episodes as well Lost. I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.
I REALLY WISH THIS WOULD OF BEEN TRUE. THEY ALWAYS TAKE THA BEST SHOWS OFF THA AIR WAY TOO EARLY.
