6 new trailers in this edition of TrailerGEEK.
The Other Guys
Set in New York City, The Other Guys follows Detective Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell), a forensic accountant who’s more interested in paperwork than hitting the streets, and Detective Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg), who has been stuck with Allen as his partner ever since an embarrassing public incident with his quick trigger finger. Allen and Terry idolize the city’s top cops, Danson and Manzetti (Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson) but when an opportunity arises for the Other Guys to step up, things don’t quite go as planned.
The Expendables
A group of mercenaries is hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Once the mission begins, the men realize things aren’t quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of deceit and betrayal. With their mission thwarted and an innocent life in danger, the men struggle with an even tougher challenge — one that threatens to destroy this band of brothers.
Splice
Clive and Elsa are superstars of the genetic engineering world. They specialize in splicing together DNA from different animals to create fantastical new hybrids. The charismatic couple wants to use human DNA in a new hybrid – something that could yield astronomical medical benefits. The pharmaceutical company that funds their research, however, is more interested in exploiting their earlier triumphs for easier, short-term profit. Clive and Elsa secretly conduct their own experiment. The result is Dren: an amazing creature who exhibits an array of unexpected developments, both physical and intellectual. Dren exceeds their wildest dreams… and, ultimately, their most terrifying nightmare.
Dinner For Schmucks
Dinner for Schmucks tells the story of Tim (Paul Rudd), a guy on the verge of having it all. The only thing standing between him and total career success is finding the perfect guest to bring to his boss’ annual Dinner for Extraordinary People, an event where the winner of the evening brings the most eccentric character as his guest. Enter Barry (Steve Carell), a guy with a passion for dressing mice up in tiny outfits to recreate great works of art. From Jay Roach, director of Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers comes an unforgettable feast about two unlikely friends and one very memorable dinner.
Paper Man
A coming-of-middle-age comedy that chronicles the unlikely friendship between failed author Richard Dunne and a Long Island teen who teaches him a thing or two about growing up, all under the disapproving eye of his long-suffering wife and his imaginary Superhero friend.
The Kids Are All Right
The Kids Are All Right is the heartfelt new comedy from acclaimed director Lisa Cholodenko, starring Annette Bening, Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo. Two teenaged children (Mia Wasikowska and Josh Hutcherson) get the notion to seek out their biological father and introduce him into the family life that their two mothers (Bening and Moore) have built for them. Once the donor (Ruffalo) is found, the household will never be the same, as family ties are defined, re—defined, and re—re—defined.

My thoughts:
The Other Guys – Was honestly hoping for a bit more from this. Just looks like another Will Ferrell screams a lot comedy. I’m sure it’ll be okay… just nothing we haven’t seen before.
The Expendables – I have no interest in this movie really… I just want to see the scene between Stallone, Willis, and Schwarzenegger. If they could have gotten JCVD and Seagal like Stallone originally wanted, this movie would have been unstoppable… now he probably shouldn’t have bothered.
Splice – When was the last really creepy sci-fi movie? Alien? This trailer gave me the heebie jeebies, I can only imagine what the movie will do. Should be interesting nevertheless.
Dinner For Schmucks – I want to see this, but only for Paul Rudd (who I’ve never not liked) and Zach Galifianakis. I like Steve Carell, but he doesn’t seem to be at his comedic best here… at least not in this trailer.
Paper Man – TERRIBLE trailer. Wow. So bad. The movie looks like it could be pretty decent though. I’m sure it’ll be streaming for free on Netflix a few months for now. I’ll watch it then.
The Kids Are All Right – Had no idea what this movie was, but I LOVED this trailer. Awesome cast. Interesting story. Looks like it could be the quirky indie family comedy of the year. I’ll definitely be watching this!
The other guys: I loved everything about this trailer…then Will Ferrel came on screen, he had one or two good lines but generally ruined what looked like a really funny movie. I really hate him in 90% of the movies he’s in now.
The Expendables: I really want to see this movie, im guilty of loving plotless mindless violent action movies, however I didnt like this trailer, it opens sounding like a Pablo Francisco joke and takes itself way too seriously, the first trailer was much better.
Splice: This looked ok but im not sure what to think, it didnt look scary or creepy at all, and for abit in the middle I thought it might of been one of those sad drauma’s about looking for your place in the world….then the end made me think of species. I’ll have to see it eventually, but this trailer gave me more questions than answeres.
Dinner for Schmucks: Steve carell is one of my most hated and IMO most overrated actors ever….I havent watched this yet but proclaim that even though I really like Rudd and Galifinakis, he will ruin this for me, now to watch………Yeah I was right, it looked good, but from that first scene with Carell in it, I already hated him.
Paper-man: Intresting idea that looks bland and boring. I really like Emma Stone and Ryan Reynolds, so i’ll probly give it a shot eventually.
The kids are all right. Wow, did not expect to like that as much as I didnt, normally when I hear the words “quirky, indie, family and comedy” put together I cringe and back away slowly as iv shown to hate most of them (and dissagree with what qualifies as an indie movie these days)) but I was very wrong, this looked really fun.
The Other Guys: Oh my gosh! WHY did they have to get will Ferrell for this? He looks sooo bad in it! Mark Wahlberg would be mindly entertaining but as it looks like it will drive me up the wall, I won’t be seeing this one.
The Expendables: I agree with you Scott, I only wanna see the scene with Willis, Stallone and Arnie. Otherwise Sylvester might have a few one liners but thats about it.
Splice: I wasn’t sure if this was going to be a serious movie or a comedy at first with the way they built the tension up to the reveal. Worth a look for sure. I squealled when I saw David Hewlett. I hope there is more than 2 minutes of him in the film. Love him!
Dinner for Shmucks: This looks like a good popcorn movie to see with friends on a Friday night. Not sure if Paul Rudd and Steve Carrell are the best match but looks like should be fun. Zach Galifianakis seems as tho he’ll steal the scene every time he’s there but I’m all for that.
Paper Man: This should be good if only to mock Ryan Reynolds in that superhero outfit. The general plot might be a little bit lame, tho I wanna see this one.
The Kids Are All Right: This looks quirky, original and funny. Nice to be surprised for a change. Didn’t think Mark Ruffalo would fit in the role but he seems to very well.
The Other Guys – The only Will Ferrell movies I’ve really enjoyed are the ones where he’s not being an annoying caricature of himself. Stuff like Stranger Than Fiction and Elf. That said, this movie could be a lot of fun, depending on how much of the insane Will Ferrell shows up. I liked him in most of this trailer, with the exception of the interrogation scene. Hopefully Samuel L Jackson and The Rock are in a large portion of the movie because their parts of the trailer were hilarious.
The Expendables – I kind of agree with both Scott and prettz on this one. Jean Claude van Damme and Steven Seagal needed to be in this movie. I still want to see it despite this fairly blah trailer.
Dinner for Schmucks – That was a damned funny trailer. I had absolutely no idea what this movie was, and the trailer completely sold me on it.
Paper Man – Hmmm….looks like it could either be interesting or boring as hell.
The Kids Are All Right – I probably wouldn’t be interested in this movie with a different cast. Mark Ruffalo is usually fun to watch, and the rest of the cast looks to be having fun with their roles. I’ll probably catch it on DVD.
