From the producers of Horton Hears A Who! comes an adaptation of one of Dr. Seuses’ more mealancholy works.
Like many pf Seuss’s books, The Lorax attempted to teach children vaulable, sometimes quite deep messages through simple rhymes and storytelling; In The Lorax’s case, the dangers of exploiting forests and the nesessacity of protecting the enviroment. Horton producer Chris Meledandri will be helping to bring the 3D animated film to life with Universal Studios. It’l; be interesting see just how far the studio will be willing to go with the book’s bleak third act and ending; cumulating in The Lorax’s final words; “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, thingsĀ nothing’s going to get better. It’s not. ”
The film is set for realese on March 2nd, 2012

never read the book, Dr Suess wasn’t that big over here.
I don’t remember this story but I’ve liked the Dr. Seuss movies so far so I’m looking forward to this.
I always thought the Lorax looked like Pat Hingle; the Comissioner Gordon from the Tim Burton Batmans
This was always my favorite one of Dr.Suess’ books so I hope it turns out well. I must say that I think its one of the weirdest choices for a book to adapt though.
Oh, it’s ripe for the times alright. I doubt they’ll dub it for Indian and Chinese audiences though. Regardless, it’ll instill lots more Americans to feel guilty for ruining our planet, and we might even get another tax to make us feel a little better.
Personally, I’ve always found “The Butter Battle” and “Yertle the Turtle” to be the Doctor’s more subversive works but I have a soft spot for the Lorax. After all…
“I am the Lorax I speak for the trees! Please only take from the forest that with which you need!” Is some pretty powerful stuff.
