Scott Pilgrim Updates
Thursday, January 15th, 2009
Preproduction is moving right along on Edgar Wright’s new film, the adaptation of the Oni Press comic Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.
Keiran Culkin has been cast in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. He joins Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead who have already been cast as Scott Pilgrim and the object of his affection Romona Flowers. Culkin plays Wallace Wells, Scott’s gay roommate who is the more responsible of the two, and is known for his pithy observations.
Also joining the cast is Aubrey Plaza, playing the obnoxious lead singer and guitarist of Scott’s band, Sex Bob-omb. Plaza is a comedian who will be making her big screen debut later this year with Judd Apatow’s Funny People and was recently cast in the untitled new series from The Office masterminds Greg Daniels and Mike Schur. The series is set in the office of Amy (Poehler), deputy chairman of the department of parks and recreations in Pawnee, Ind. Plaza will play April, an intern who shadows her.
Last Week, director Edgar Wright posted a set photo from the upcoming film on his myspace page. It looks to be the entrance to Scott Pilgrim and Wallace Wells’ apartment.
The series is about 23-year-old Canadian Scott Pilgrim, a slacker, hero, wannabe-rockstar, who is living in Toronto and playing bass in the band “Sex Bob-Omb.” He falls in love with American delivery girl Ramona V. Flowers, but must defeat her seven “evil exes” in order to date her.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is due in theaters later this year.

Wow. Maybe this will come out in 2009….
I can just say that Bryan Lee O’Mally’s art on this book is fantastic? becuase it really is.
This is one of my favorites, and definitely I HIGHLY anticipated film for me. The 5th book (Scott Pilgrim vs. The Universe) comes out Feb. 9th and I’m psyched!
I have never heard of this…..
I know nothing about Scott Pilgrim, but Sean of the Dead and Hot Fuzz were great fun. I’m sure Edgar Wright will do a fine job, and I am anticipating this movie because of his involvement alone.
Monkey , I want to post something on every topic but this I know nothing about so all i say is Monkey
I really doubt this movie comes out this year.
Wow, I step out for a bit and the whole site changes around. Looks like you guys’ve got a lot going on. Congradgulations.
This is probably my most anticipated film on the horizon. More so than Watchmen. The books tickle me like laughing gas. I also think this could be an important film for Mike Cera; his big chance to make a major impression without doing his Michael Bluth thing. (on the other hand, if he just does his Michael Bluth thing I will hate this movie with the furry of a million dying suns.)
I think there’s a mistake in the cast listing above. According to Chud Aubrey Plaza is cast as Jule Powers who is the girlfriend of band leader Steven Stills. Maybe they cut Steven Stills out of the movie and made julie the band leader. But in any case I’m pretty sure that picture you show her opposite is Scott’s girlfriend Ramona.
Kieren Kulken as Wallace is awesome!
Aubrey Plaza ended up playing NOT the lead singer (the female in Scott’s band, Kim, plays Drums), but as Julie Powers, that obnoxious character
