Martin Campbell To Direct ‘The Green Lantern’

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

The Green Lantern is moving forward at Warner Bros. with news of a director.

Despite Warner announcing that all DC properties were on hold for the time being, The Green Lantern has proven to be the project that has risen above all of that and is moving forward.

Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, Mask of Zorro) has been tapped to direct the feature adaptation of the Emerald Knight, from a script by Greg Berlanti (Everwood, Eli Stone), Marc Guggenheim (Eli Stone, Amazing Spider-Man), and Michael Green (Smallville, Heroes).

Berlanti was originally attached to direct the film himself, but once Warner began to reassess their DC properties, his lack of experience (having only one independent film under his belt) caused him to lose the job. Campbell however is a very high profile choice, who could bring a real vision to the screen, which seems to be what Warner wants.

I’m just glad this is finally happening.
