Guitar Hero: The Movie?
Saturday, August 30th, 2008
Here’s a funny little tidbit that I had to share:
In a recent interview with MTV, director Brett Ratner expressed interest in bringing Activision’s Guitar Hero franchise to the silver screen.
“I love ‘Guitar Hero’ and I think it’s a part of pop culture,” says the X3 director. ” I would love to do a ‘Guitar Hero’ movie, if Activision would ever let me. I’m trying to convince them, but why would you have a movie screw up such a huge franchise? Not that I would make a bad movie. So that would be cool, to do a ‘Guitar Hero’ movie. ”
Ratner goes on to describe a possible plot: “It could be about a kid from a small town who dreams of being a rock star and he wins the ‘Guitar Hero’ competition. One of these dreams-[come-true] kind of concepts.”
Sounds awesome, right? (*chuckle* *snort*) It’s time like this I’m glad I prefer Rock Band…

Y The Last Man Vol. 5In this final Deluxe Edition hardcover collecting Y #49-60, Yorick and Agent 355 prepare for their ultimate quest to reunite the last man with his lost love, while the person, people or thing behind the disaster that wiped out half of humanity is revealed. Then, Yorick Brown's long journey through an Earth populated only by women comes to its dramatic, unexpected conclusion.

Let’s just say this does happen – -
How the heck would this movie happen anyway?
CURSE YOU, RATNER!!!!!
I’d like to do a guitar hero movie, just a little mockumentary about people who take the game too seriously
This actually sounds like a fun premise, if done right.
Some things need to be left alone and not expanded into a movie. This is one of them.
Ratner! this looks pretty horrible
I don’t understand how his premise has really anything to do with Guitar Hero. It could easily be an air guitar contest, or a guitar hero-like video game, or any other little tweak. The only reason to call it “Guitar Hero: The Movie” would be to try and cash in on the video game’s success. Which is silly, he could sell the premise just as easily without Guitar Hero attached to it because it sounds like a story idea that’d sell (not a great story, but- in the hands of a really good writer…) but, whatevs.
Guitar Hero has no plot, it’s basically a version of ‘follow to dots’/'Simon’ with rock music attached to it and a neat controller. It has no plot or even identifiable character. To what point would making it a movie serve. How is there even a logic to it?
At the end of the day it’s like trying to option the rubicks cube and turn it into a movie. Although if anyone’s got a good plot for that I’d love to hear it. :P
A teenager really wants to get a band together but he’s bad at guitar, so he starts playing quasi-popular song covers untill he gets really good. He forms a band and they get big really fast, however our protagonist doesn’t let fame get to his head. They play a huge show at the largest venue in the world! He is the guitar hero! And then his doctors unplug him from the Guitar Hero Virtual Reality Life Modifier. And they bring him back to his padded cell with a HUGE smile on his face, because he’s the Guitar Hero!
I think that would be an alright plot
It’s pretty stupid, you know, but once, I was kinda working on a plot with the game’s characters plus some of GH features all mixed together.
It got pretty shitty, but, anyway, it’s still better than a plot with a fucking kid who gets into rock after winning a goddamn random-rock ‘n roll-contest-out-of-nowhere.
By the way, the plot’s not complete and it’s way too big to be put in here. If anyone wanna know about it anyway, mail me. If not, well… Godspeed
Is it just me, or does Brett Ratner kinda look like Jonah Hill?
