Gilligan’s Island Movie To Set Sail?

Gilligan’s Island, the iconically goofy 1960’s sitcom set on a deserted island paradise is getting updated for the big screen. And the guy that signed the deal (Sherwood Schwartz ,who happens to be the son of the show’s creator, Lloyd Scwhartz) already knows who he wants to cast.
Schwartz told TV Guide that we wants Michael Cera to play the white-hat wearing Gilligan (Because that would be so much better than doing an Arrested Development movie…) and Beyonce Knowles as Ginger. Now, I know this sounds like a horrible idea (most likely because it is) but if this just had to happen, who would you guys want to cast? I for one would love to see Hugh Laurie as The Professor. What do you guys think?

I never really got this show, but I have respect for it in certain ways, so I might not be the best person to comment on this, but my god this sounds god awful!.
In saying thast the picture you put up makes me believe Cera could be Gilligan, but that breed of comedy is pretty outdated and the movie would most likely be like most recent remakes with the same basic jist and character names, but nothing in common.
In my opinion this might be one of the few cases where thats exactly what this movie wouldnt need.
I personally don’t think they should cast a black actor for the sake of diversity, and that seems like what they’re trying to do… However I think it would be hilarious if it was all Beyonce’s idea. Hmm… can’t be black wonderwoman, how about black Ginger? How about your a terrible actress, in my opinion. Now I’ve never seen Rihanna act, not even sure if she can. but Ginger sort of was the eye candy for the show, and if there absolutely had to be a black actress in the role, I think Rihanna would do alright. But I don’t really want this movie to be made… So meaningless and confusing post!
Dude, The RZA wants Rhianna to be in The Last Dragon remake! How crazy is that? Oh wait, am I the only one that knows what The Last Dragon is? Drat…
Interesting wanting Beyonce. I guess it wouldn’t really matter except for the fact that the name “Ginger” does refer to redheads.
Cera is a good choice as Gilligan, but I can’t imagine a movie version of this show will be any good. The show wasn’t even that good.
They could add a smoke monster though. :)
hmm….the question is will they ever make it off the island?? or will it follow the show and do it only in the last 3 minutes?
Or when they make it off the island they’ll feel the urge to want to go back.

Maby the harlem globetrotters will be crash land in the movie aswell!!!!
