Brandon Routh No Longer (Legally) Superman
Sunday, July 5th, 2009
After three years of pre-production muck, Brandon Routh’s contract to Warner Bros. to the Superman franchise has lapsed.
Now, this doesn’t mean that Routh can’t play Superman when a new film project finally gets off the ground. In fact, Routh is still very interested in playing the charecter.
“The term of the contract expired. But if they call me again, I’ll go back to the character without thinking twice,” Routh told Omelette during an interview on the Scott Pilgrim set.
What this does mean is, when and if Bryan Singer or Mark Millar whoever the hell actually ends up making a Superman movie in the next couple of years finally gets to the casting process and wants to cast Routh, a new contract will have to be written.
I really loved Routh as Superman and I think the dude himself is very cool. I hope that whenever we get a new Superman movie, it’ll be him in the tights.

With such an awesome post-Superman career, it would be oh so hard to make room.
I still really like Brandon Routh as supes, I’d like to see him return
Agreed. I like him as the character. They just need to give him something interesting to do. However, I don’t think I would be upset if he didn’t return either.
